We've got several new cocktail specials on the menu for you!! We'll be posting about them each separately, starting with this one...
The Catamount Lounge was proud to be represented by our own Shenan Hahn at the final round of the Virginia Spirits Cocktail Games last weekend in Richmond!! She presented this cocktail, "Walkin' After Midnight," to the judges: a cocktail that tells the story of the Virginia's own Patsy Cline, from her childhood in the Shenandoah Valley, to her rise to fame in Nashville, and all the rough and tumble juke joints in between. "'Walkin' After Midnight' is Patsy Cline in a glass, and tells the story of her life, career, and rise to fame, from small town farm girl to country star of national acclaim. The star of this drink, Copper Fox Distillery's Peachwood Single Malt Whiskey (single malt whiskey aged in peachwood barrels), as well as a house-infused peach brandy (using Catoctin Creek 1757 Brandy), represent the many peach orchards, family farms, and fruit packing plants that dominated the landscape of Patsy Cline's childhood growing up in Gore, Virginia, just outside Wi******er. It packs a little bit of heat from a Nashville hot honey syrup (made from honey, brown sugar, cayenne pepper, and smoked paprika), inspired by the famous Nashville-style hot sauce the city is known for, and representing the glitz, glamor, and fire of her rise to fame in the Nashville country music scene in the 50s and 60s. Finally, the drink is finished with a combination of root beer and to***co bitters, evoking both the taste of a childhood soda and the aroma of a smokey dive bar, representing all the rough-around-the-edges venues Patsy played around the Shenandoah Valley as a young teen, before she became the Grand Ole Opry star we know her as today. She definitely did a lot of 'walkin' after midnight' in those days! The drink is garnished with a bruleed peach, an elevated, contemporary nod to her humble beginnings."
