We are deeply saddened by the passing of John Donohue, a cherished member of the McGaw YMCA and Camp Echo family for more than 50 years. From teaching sailing on Ryerson Lake and volunteering at camp work weekends to welcoming campers with the Spirit Squad and serving as a McGaw Y board member, John shared his time, generosity, and love for the Y with generations of families and campers.

We are grateful for his extraordinary impact and will miss him greatly. ❤️

Recently, campers Teshawna Rhaburn and Rory McKee (left and right center) hit a Camp Echo milestone, celebrating 10 summers in a row at camp, attending from 3rd grade through teen programs and adventure trips. They’ve grown up at camp and now join the very small club of Echo campers with a full decade of memories. Camp counselors Evan Portnoy (far left) and Max Matsis (far right) also received stickers to mark one decade of attending camp. Both should have received stickers in 2024 but were on adventure trips at the time.

Campfires have always been part of Camp Echo — and now there’s a new place to enjoy them. During Session 3, our Explorers took on service projects like building benches and cleaning up the area, leaving a lasting gift for the camp community. ❤️
