Friday night was my first time attending Maritime Magic in Baltimore, and I had a great time.
I was invited to be one of the food judges, so I spent a good part of the evening checking out what Baltimore-area chefs, restaurants, breweries and other businesses were serving. There were freshly shucked oysters, crab cakes, plenty of drinks and desserts, and some really interesting dishes from local chefs.
One of my favorite parts of events like this is getting to talk with the people making the food. I got to meet a few new people, say hi to chef Spike Gjerde, and chat briefly with chef Jesse Sandlin.
It was also great seeing so many Baltimore businesses and organizations come together for the event. Beyond the food, drinks and music, Maritime Magic is Living Classrooms Foundation’s biggest fundraiser of the year, supporting their education, workforce development and community programs throughout Baltimore and Washington DC.
Thanks to Living Classrooms for inviting me to be part of this year’s event. I’m glad I finally got to experience it, and I’d definitely recommend checking it out next year.
