It's National Farm Safety and Health Week, which got us thinking about the part of the farmers market you don't usually see.
You see the beautiful produce, the baked goods, the flowers, the food trucks and all the other good stuff once everybody is set up.
What you don't see is the loading, hauling, lifting, driving, unloading, setting up, breaking down and doing it all again at the end of the day.
Farming and vending aren't exactly spectator sports.
So while you're enjoying the market today, take a moment to think about, and talk about, everything that happens between our Saturday mornings together. The crops that were planted and tended all week. The things that were baked, cooked, canned, crafted and packed. The orders loaded into trucks. The early mornings and late nights. There's a whole lot of work that happens before our vendors ever pull into the market.
We get to see the finished product on Saturday. We hope you'll appreciate the work that went into getting it here, too.
