We’ve been quiet about something very difficult that our family has been going through, and we feel like it’s finally time to let the people we love and care about know what’s happening.

Shawn has been diagnosed with esophageal cancer.

For the last several weeks, we’ve been trying to process this as a family while continuing to work, take care of our four kids, and somehow keep life moving forward. We’ve mostly kept this within his work family because, honestly, we weren’t ready to talk about it publicly. We needed some time to understand what we were facing and to find our footing.

Shawn has started his treatment, and the road ahead is going to be a long one. There will be chemotherapy, surgery, recovery, and a lot of unknowns along the way. We are taking it one day at a time and doing everything we can to fight this together.

For those who know Shawn, you know he is so much more than a chef. He is my husband, my best friend, my business partner, and an incredible dad to our four kids. He has poured his heart into his work and into the people around him for years. Seeing him have to step away from some of the things he loves has been incredibly hard.

This is scary. There are going to be hard days. But we are also surrounded by so much love, and we are choosing to hold onto hope.

We’re sharing this now because we know there are so many people who care about Shawn and our family who had no idea what we’ve been going through. We don’t expect anyone to have the right words or to know what to say. Your prayers, love, encouragement, messages, and simply keeping our family in your thoughts mean more than we can explain.

We have four kids watching us through all of this, so we’re doing our best to stay strong for them while also allowing ourselves to be human.

We’re going to take this one day, one treatment, one hurdle at a time.

Shawn has a fight ahead of him, and he will not be fighting it alone. ❤️

Thank you to everyone who has already supported us, especially his incredible work family, and to everyone who will now be walking alongside us.

Please keep Shawn, our four kids, and our family in your thoughts and prayers as we begin this next chapter. ❤️
