Mijo’s, which means "my son" in Spanish, is truly a family affair. The nearly three-year-old Mexican restaurant in Fox Lake is run by Ivan Gomez in conjunction with his mother, his sisters and extended family.

When you enter the former Diamond Deli, 33 S. Route 12, a long running fixture in Fox Lake, you can feel the warmth and embrace of the family spirit. In addition to the cozy atmosphere and friendly hospitality, Mijo’s serves some of the best Mexican food around. From traditional Mexican offerings, including burritos, tacos, and enchiladas, Mijo's also offers several items not always found on Mexican food menus, such as suadero tacos.

In addition to the wonderful homemade food made with love by Ivan's mother, the bar serves up delicious cocktails, including the house specialty prickly pear margarita and an assortment of Mezcal.
