🧀 MAC ATTACK HISTORY — WEDNESDAY EDITION

Who decided mac & cheese needed BREAD on top? 😂

Breadcrumb toppings have been used on baked pasta dishes for generations, and there’s actually a pretty good reason for it.

That crunchy layer gives you something creamy mac & cheese doesn’t have on its own — TEXTURE.

Soft pasta.
Creamy cheese.
Crispy, buttery breadcrumbs.

Turns out somebody knew exactly what they were doing. 🧀

And yes... this is exactly why toasted breadcrumbs are one of our toppings at Boggs.

🧀 MAC ATTACK HISTORY — WEDNESDAY EDITION

Ever wonder where the word “macaroni” actually came from?

Macaroni has been around for centuries, and the word has been used for different types of dried pasta over the years — long before elbow macaroni became the shape most Americans associate with mac & cheese.

Eventually those little curved noodles became a comfort-food icon.

And honestly, they figured out a pretty good design.

Little tube + cheese sauce = cheese INSIDE the noodle. 😂🧀

Although around here, elbows have some competition...

Well… I think Mother Nature made the decision for us today. 😂
With all the rain and flooding around the truck, Boggs Mac Attack will be closed today.
We hate missing a day, but soggy mac is NOT one of our topping options. 🧀😂
Stay safe and dry out there, y’all! We’ll be back slinging mac as soon as Mother Nature cooperates.

🧀 MAC ATTACK HISTORY — WEDNESDAY EDITION

Think mac & cheese is an American invention? Not quite.
People have been combining pasta and cheese for centuries. One of the earliest known written recipes resembling mac & cheese appears in a 14th-century Italian cookbook called Liber de Coquina. It described sheets of pasta layered with grated cheese.
So apparently, sometime in the 1300s, somebody looked at pasta, looked at cheese and thought:
“Yeah… these two belong together.”
And honestly, humanity has been better off ever since. 😂🧀
