Sixty years of marriage.

60 YEARS! That is something truly extraordinary. 🥹

When I was asked to make a cake for Ronnie and Lindsey's 60th wedding anniversary, I knew I didn't want to make just a pretty cake.

I wanted to make their cake.

You know my favorite question when I get a custom order:

“Give me your story, and I'll create something that's uniquely yours.” ❤️

So I asked their daughter, Ronna, if there were any special memories or stories about her parents that might help me bring their story to life.

She gave me one that made me laugh out loud. 😂

Their favorite place is Jenny Lake in Grand Teton National Park, and apparently Ronnie has always loved seeing wildlife. One particular trip, they had spent time in Yellowstone hoping to see a grizzly bear in the wild.
Then, as they were heading into the Tetons, they got their wish.

A HUGE male grizzly came walking straight down the road toward their truck.
Ronnie immediately told Ronna, “Hurry! Get your camera! We need a picture!”
There was just one problem...
The camera was in the camper. 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

Ronna's response was essentially, “Yeah... I'm not getting out of this truck with THAT bear walking toward us.”

And then the bear walked right up to the passenger-side door and stood there looking in at Ronnie.

And they didn't get a picture. 😂

But Ronna said her dad has never forgotten that encounter...

Nor has he ever forgotten that she didn't have her camera. 🤣

I couldn't fit that entire story onto the cake without making the details microscopic, but I could tuck one little piece of that memory into their cake.

The bear. 🐻

Hopefully, when Ronnie and Lindsey saw it, it brought that story—and all those memories of Jenny Lake and the Tetons—right back to them.

Because that's what I love most about creating custom cakes.

It's not just about matching colors or making something beautiful.

It's about taking the little pieces of someone's life—the places they love, the people they love, the memories that make them laugh—and turning them into something they can see sitting right in front of them.

60 years of love. 60 years of memories. And one little bear who had to make an appearance. ❤️🏔️🐻

Happy 60th Anniversary, Ronnie & Lindsey!

🩵🦆 Stitch + Rubber Duckies = Birthday Perfection! 🦆🩵

Hey y’all! What do you think about this adorable Stitch cake?! 😍

Jen loves Stitch AND rubber duckies, so when I happened across a picture of Stitch surrounded by duckies, I knew I had found the perfect inspiration for her birthday cake! 💙💛

And this one was a little different behind the scenes!

The Stitch and duckies design was created using a buttercream transfer. I piped the entire image onto parchment paper, froze it until it was solid, and then carefully flipped the transfer onto the cake. 🎂✨

It's one of those cake techniques that looks a little like magic when you peel back the curtain and see how it's actually done! 😉

Happy Birthday, Jen! I hope your day was every bit as adorable as your cake! 🩵🦆💕

P.S. This cake traveled all the way to Iowa! I believe he said it was a 12 hour drive.

🖤💚✨ A Little Magic in Black, Green & Gold ✨💚🖤

This is a rich, espresso-laced, perfectly moist chocolate cake with my signature chocolate buttercream icing. 🍫

This cake was completely my own design. My wonderful customer, Eva, gave me free rein on the design, which is my absolute favorite thing to hear! 😁

My parameters were simple: her daughter's favorite colors are green and black, she loves magical things like Harry Potter and anime, and she requested just a pretty chocolate cake.

So I decided on a fault-line cake. I've been wanting to make one, so this was the perfect opportunity!

I love how the green marble shows through the crack. And the gold against that black is just gorgeous.

And can I just say... look at that pure black icing! 🖤 That's not an easy feature to accomplish! 😂

I did try to add fairy lights ✨️, but it just didn't work out. 🫣 Maybe on the next one! 😁

Then I added gold stars, flakes, painted accents, and butterfly 🦋 details to give it that little bit of magical flair.
I had so much fun creating this one!

✨ A Beautiful Wedding Day! ✨

I’m so happy I got to be a part of Dannah and Frank's special day at Soli Deo Gloria! ❤️

I had the honor of making this beautiful wedding cake with vanilla on top and red velvet on bottom, with cream cheese frosting inside and my signature buttercream on the outside, finished with a realistic birch wood design and a cascade of red and white roses. 🌹🤍

But I got to do a little extra helping behind the scenes, too!

The grazing tray style food arrived in plastic containers and the venue was told to just set out the containers as they were. Angela and I looked at each other and said, "no, we're not doing that." Since the venue had so many beautiful serving pieces available, I offered to help transform the food table into something a little more wedding-worthy. 😊

So I pulled out the platters, cake stands, and serving pieces and went to work!

I didn’t prepare the food — I just gave it a pretty place to shine. 😉 And honestly, I was thrilled with how it came together! The table looked beautiful, and I received so many compliments on the display throughout the day.

And then there was the cake. ❤️

I cannot tell you how happy it made me to have people come up throughout the day to tell me how much they loved it. The flavor, the texture, the moistness — and some of my favorite compliments came from the little ones who couldn't stop talking about how soft the cake was. 🥹

Those are the moments that make all the early mornings, late nights, messy kitchens, and flour-covered everything completely worth it.

It was an amazing day, I had a wonderful time, and I’m incredibly grateful that I got to contribute a little bit of beauty to such a special celebration.

And a special thank-you to the wonderful ladies at the venue for letting me jump in and help wherever I could. It was such a pleasure spending the day with you all!

🚔💙 First Responder Friday 💙🚔

It only seems right that the very first First Responder Friday spotlight begins with the man who started it all.

Meet Lieutenant Horace Langford of the Bridgeport Police Department in Texas.

Brandon was about 9 or 10 years old when we met Horace. Brandon has Bardet-Biedl Syndrome, a very rare genetic disorder that comes with significant physical and developmental challenges. He also has PTSD, and leaving the house was incredibly difficult for him.

But there was one thing that always made him light up...

Police officers.

Any time we happened to see one, he'd start bouncing in his seat, grinning from ear to ear, asking over and over, "I say hi, Momma? I say hi?"

One afternoon we spotted Officer Langford sitting in his patrol car at the pavilion, eating lunch.

I rolled down my window and asked if he had just a minute to say hello to Brandon. I briefly explained who Brandon was.

Horace looked over, saw Brandon practically vibrating with excitement in the passenger seat, waving with everything he had, and without hesitation smiled and said, "Of course."

He asked us to park so we could all visit for a while.

The moment I put the car in park, Brandon unbuckled his seat belt, jumped out, ran straight to Horace... and wrapped him in the biggest hug.

I'd never seen that level of joy.

They talked. We laughed. We took pictures.

To Horace, it may have seemed like a simple conversation with an excited little boy.

To us...

It changed our lives.

What none of us knew that day was this would become the beginning of an incredible journey. It led to Brandon's patch collection, friendships with first responders around the world, fundraisers that have raised thousands of dollars to support those who serve, and a confidence in Brandon that I honestly wasn't sure we'd ever see.

One act of kindness started a ripple effect that continues to this day.

Horace, thank you for seeing Brandon. Thank you for taking a few minutes out of your day. Thank you for showing him that he mattered.

You were a light during one of the darkest seasons of our lives, and I'll never be able to thank you enough.

There's something magical about a wedding cake that makes people stop and stare. ✨

This four-tier design featured floating acrylic tiers filled with soft lavender roses and twinkling lights, creating a romantic centerpiece for the reception.

🌸 Fun fact: Some of the flowers were handcrafted buttercream... and some were artificial florals.

The best part? Guests couldn't tell which was which! 😄 That's one of my favorite compliments to receive.

Every wedding is unique, and I love creating cakes that reflect each couple's style while adding those little details that make people look twice.
