Fantastic write up for a fantastic Q joint!
There is a brick building at 601 E Main St in Downtown Arlington that you have probably driven past a hundred times. Inside is 225° BBQ, where owners Rene and Joyce Ramirez are doing Tex-Mex BBQ unlike anywhere else in town.
After years of building a cult following from their food truck across Arlington and Dallas, they settled into a permanent kitchen inside Black Sheep Sports Bar in Fall 2024 and earned a spot on the 2025 CultureMap Fort Worth Tastemaker ballot for Best BBQ.
What to order on your first visit:
- Texas Tw***ies: Jalapenos stuffed with brisket and cream cheese, wrapped in bacon, and smoked low and slow (ask for the Cherry Bomb if you want the habanero version).
- Birria Tacos & Birria Ramen: Served with rich, smoky consomme that people drive across the metroplex for.
- Smokehouse Classics: Pecan-smoked prime brisket and tender pork ribs.
- Brisket Elote: Street corn loaded with brisket that will ruin regular corn for you.
- Baseballs: Bacon-wrapped chicken thighs stuffed with cream cheese and jalapeno (grab them before they sell out).
Plus, with a full bar, pool tables, and big screens inside Black Sheep Sports Bar, it doubles as a great game-day hangout.
