With the month- month and a half I've been having, I can't tell y'all how much comments and messages like this mean to me.

I try my absolute best to show up as the best version of myself no matter what I'm going through in life.

There are several reasons why I speak about what I go through, but one of the main ones is that I want to remind people that there is a real person behind the business.

The last thing I want is for someone to leave my bakery feeling the way I've been feeling lately.

You all are the most important part of my business. I care about all of my patrons, one time visitors or regulars, I care about your experience equally.

Thank you, to all of you that have sent, brought me flowers, have stopped by to check on me, have left positive comments on my posts, and have reached out one way or another. I am so grateful for you.đź’™

Florida, you were amazing to us.

We packed so much into two days.

We visited beaches, tried different restaurants, went to different stores, attended an amazing wedding, and best of all, I got to spend a lot of quality with my amazing husband.

The drive there was one of the scariest experiences of my life but it was so worth it.

We made it to Pensacola Florida as the hurricane was making landfall.

I swear it felt like we were in a movie.

We were dodging falling trees, swerving around debris, trying to see past the rain, and keep the car steady as the wind rocked it from side to side.

We were originally supposed to arrive in Jacksonville by 11pm, but unfortunately the hurricane decided to make landfall before the projected time. We didn't make it to the hotel until 2am on Saturday.

It rained on us from Mobile Alabama to Jacksonville Florida.

Below is a glimpse into our trip🤍

Well, apparently “Never Forget” has an expiration date.

Not even a month ago, Republicans were screaming “September 11th. NEVER FORGET.” They wrapped themselves in the flag, invoked the victims, and reminded everyone that an attack on American soil should never be taken lightly.

And today, the President of the United States stood on a stage and said, “Let them take out Los Angeles. Let them take out San Diego.”

Two American cities. Millions of Americans.

And suddenly the same people who demanded that we "never forget" what happened to American civilians are falling all over themselves to explain why we shouldn’t take the President’s words seriously.

That’s the hypocrisy.

When terrorists kill Americans, it’s NEVER FORGET.

When the President talks about American cities being “taken out,” it’s “You’re taking him out of context.”

When someone else threatens an American city, they’re a terrorist.

When their guy talks about one being destroyed, apparently we need a panel of political interpreters to explain why he didn’t "really" mean it.

You don’t get to turn patriotism on and off depending on who occupies the White House.

American lives don’t become less valuable because the person talking about them has an “R” next to his name.

Maybe “Never Forget” should mean exactly that.

What can we really expect from the guy that said he felt "badly" for the Cornell rapists.

Sometimes things happen in our lives that make absolutely no sense.

We get delayed. Plans change. Something goes wrong at exactly the wrong time. And we wonder, Why did this have to happen today?

But sometimes, we don't know the reason until later. And sometimes, we may never know the reason at all.

This morning, a flat tire delayed my husband and me on our way to work.

That delay put us at an intersection where a person in a wheelchair was trying to get through a sidewalk that had been blocked by a fallen tree branch for nearly two weeks.

City of Fort Worth this is at the intersection of Camp Bowie and Montgomery by the McDonalds at 3601 Camp Bowie Blvd. There's more branches blocking the path at the intersection of W. Lancaster and Mongomery across the street from Amon Carter Museum of American Art.

We were able to move it and clear a path.

It was such a small thing. A few minutes of inconvenience, a branch moved, and someone was able to continue on their way.

But it made me think.

What if we hadn't gotten that flat tire?

What if we hadn't been delayed?

Would someone else have stopped? Would that person have been able to get through? Would anyone have even noticed?

We'll never know.

And maybe that's the point.

Not everything that happens to us is something we're meant to understand immediately. Sometimes a frustrating delay puts us somewhere we otherwise wouldn't have been. Sometimes an inconvenience becomes an opportunity to make someone else's day a little easier.

We spend so much time asking, “Why is this happening to me?”

Maybe sometimes we should ask ourselves, “What if I'm here for a reason?”

We may never know the answer.

And that's okay.

Sometimes we don't need to know why something happened.

Sometimes it's enough to know that, for whatever reason, we were there when we were needed.
