I hope everyone's been enjoying the cooler August weather!

Starting in early September we're going to offer free delivery. We'll go up to 5 miles away. We're going to start with delivery hours of 4pm-7:30pm. Sunday 8am-1:30pm.

The 3rd party service we've been using has done a good job. But it costs customers 6.50. There is always a delay getting the food to you. We do notify the driver through the system when the food is ready and when a delivery is pending, but they can't always get there just as the food is coming out of the kitchen.

With having an employee, they will be right there to get the food hot from the kitchen and to your door.

We'll start the free delivery service from 4pm - 7:30pm. If we see there is more demand for delivery earlier in the day to justify hiring someone, we'll expand the delivery hours.

We're also looking for an experienced pizza/general cook. There are times things get busy and we need another pair of hands as well as covering when other cooks need time off.

The two positions:

Part-time position for an experience pizza/general cook. We're getting busier and there are times we need another pair of hands to help out with pizza and general cooking. In this position the person will help with prep, making sandwiches, sides, pizza, working the grill. The position has flexible hours.

Delivery Driver. Full to part time position. Must have your own vehicle. When not delivering food, you'll be answering phones, helping the waitresses, helping the kitchen as needed. Pay is $16.50 plus tips from customers. This would be a great job for a driving high schooler.

Things in the works for the Fall and Future Projects

I hope everyone is enjoying these nice days of summer!

We are working on some changes that will come sometime in September.

1. Ditch fill in.

I've met with the contractor and I think we'll have the ditch filled in sometime in September. They will fill it in and install parking blocks. We think at least 5 spots will be added. Next year after the gravel has time to settle, we'll asphalt it.

2. Delivery change.

We've been using a third-party company for the delivery. They've been doing a good job, but I think it's expensive for customers.

Sometime in September we're going to discontinue with the company, I'm going to hire someone to be our delivery driver. To start we'll offer FREE delivery 4-8pm Monday-Friday. We haven't decided on delivery hours for Saturday and Sunday.

We'll go up to 5 miles for free.

This would be a great job for someone in high school with their own car. If there are no deliveries, this person would help assist in the diner answering phones, helping the waitresses or kitchen.

I'll be posting the job early September and I'll announce when it's starts.

3. Updated menu.

Early September we are going to update the menu. We periodically do this. The Toast system shows us what are our best sellers, what items hardly sell.

We plan to add in more salads and I want to add a small keto/healthy/diet section and healthy sides that can be switched out for french fries. Any suggestions are welcome!

4. More Specials.

We going to add more variety. I've asked each cook to provide at least 5 specials. Early September we'll get together and build our specials list.

The favorites will stay on their days. The new specials we'll rotate. We'll have breakfast specials (offered all day), Lunch specials (11am-8pm), diner only specials.

We'll plan each week in advance and I'll post on Facebook what is coming for the week.

If you have ideas, let us know!

5. New Advertising

Starting in the fall we will be advertising with Bug Country radio.

Plans for the Future - Next Year or Two

Back Door Area

Behind the diner we have a door where we bring in food deliveries. Next year I want to put a 12x8 roof over it for bad weather and install an asphalt pad with a fence.

We'll be able to keep our cardboard (we get a lot of boxes) out there, plus I would like to get some smokers to offer smoked meat specials.

Kitchen Door Area

Under the exhaust fans by the back door is a sloped concrete pad. The back wall of the diner needs to be repaired. I want to remove the sloped concrete and put in a flat pad, so our dumpster and oil recycling can be right next to the kitchen door, to make it easier for staff.

Empty Retail Space

Since I bought the diner I've been debating on how to use the old retail space at the right of the building. When Mike and Fabiola bought it (now 19 years ago), there was a pool supply store there. The owner left after a year and it was used as a storage area. Right now the space is unheated.

What I think will benefit the community and be reasonably profitable is turn it into a small event space and a finer-dining restaurant. It would need heating/AC, new lighting, other remodeling work and some upscale decoration.

We could offer higher end dining with reservations on Friday or Saturday. I could bring in a guest cook, do themed meals. We could do "dinner and show" - offer diner and a show (book guitar playing, comics, other live entertainment).

The rest of the time the space could be rented out for meetings and smaller events, we could offer catering.

I'd love your feedback and ideas!

Hi Everyone!

We have four cooks now - Cameron, Amy, Joe and Rachel and two pizza cooks -- "Pizza" Joe and Todd. They are doing a great job preparing good food.

We want to step up our food game.

I've asked each cook to come up with at least 5 specials.

We'll have a good-sized specials list and will then rotate them. Don't worry, the stand-by specials (Wednesday meatloaf, Thursday Chicken and Biscuits, Friday Fish Fry) will stay.

The other specials will rotate days, so each week we'll have a variety of specials on the menu.

In August we're going to be reviewing and upgrading our menu for September.

This week two new specials we're offering is the Pork Loin and 3 sides (all locally sourced) to run Monday and Tuesday for 12.95. If you want to go keto, you can switch out the ear of corn for more salad or zucchini.

Thursday we'll offer a beef stroganoff with a small tossed salad for 15.95.

Cash Rounding

I discovered our Toast system will automatically calculate cash rounding. Our waitresses have been doing it manually.

Going forward the system will calculate the rounding. I've set it up to round in the favor of the customer.

The rounding will occur when you choose to pay cash when paying for your ticket.

Credit card payments will not round up or down.

Today's special is a favorite -- Chicken and Biscuits! Yum!

Wednesday, 7/15/2026, 7:00pm.

We're sold out of pizza for the night, because we've used up our dough. We're selling a lot pizza due to the 2 large pizza, 30 wing special, which is great!

We make our dough the day before and let it rise for 24 hrs. We've can't whip up more on the fly.

We're making a lot more tonight to be ready for tomorrow!

We're still open and can serve other foods, just out of pizza. I've turned off on-line ordering for pizza for tonight.

Attached a pizza review from an hour ago. It makes us very happy people enjoy the pizza. Cameron and Todd take great pride in the quality and flavor of our dough and sauce.
