👋Heyyyy Friends

Remember us?

We are back with a fun little guessing game. Let's play "Guess What?!"

*wait 3 seconds for responses*

If you guessed that FKTG would return but in a brick and mortar, cafe style eatery; well, you'd be correct!

And if it was EXACTLY those words without cheating, you should probably buy a lottery ticket. I'll take my cut.

Either way- in case you forgot who we are, I'm Claire, the menu maker and cooker behind all of the things here.

I was blessed to previously be given a chance to run a food trailer that had MOSTLY locally sourced goods; from beef to taters. When my beef source left town, I was near burnout and decided to call it quits.

Well, I've been blessed to AGAIN find a space to create some food fusions- but in a different fashion.

You may remember our brunch menu; well, we are going to have a very similar menu basis at the cafe. The difference being we will NOT be frying anything in the cafe- everything will be baked, boiled, sauteed, steamed, pan cooked, etc.

We are working with a few local artisans who are busy studying their craft and we think you will be very pleasantly surprised at the lineup we have. Think from drinks to smoothies to teas to baked goods to cold meals to hot meals to soups to everything we can provide from our humble kitchen.

And we will have FREE house Tea, Coffee, and Infused water during our open hours. FREE wifi and we will eventually like to add on some after school youth services like homework help & the like. This part is all thanks to my cousin Sue, who runs the nonprofit: All Things Become New; a brain injury support service. She is working with a local church to create a "Community Connect" building- a place for people to come in to connect- in a non-denominational but spiritually filling space, nonetheless.

So, her goals paralleled mine, but from much different angles and I thought, why not a cafe?

So, here we are.

As the cafe space continues to take space as the walls come tumbling down (quite literally) I will be posting all updates to the Claire Caters Page and will be tagging this page- but eventually, there will be a "marrying of the two" and it will all become The Kind Earth Cafe. That is coming HERE, as Claire Caters will be a different service within the community.

My goal is to create a safe place to work for people serving foods and drinks that are safe & healing. We will be housed in a renovated kitchen, thanks to stars aligning and prayers answered. We plan to build & grow within the Fort Kent Community; but I'm not discounting a variety of mobile vending options once we are up and running.

I plan to be as locally sourced as possible and in the summers, we will look to source local veggies we have gotten from farm stands and other local farmer friends. I hope to process as much local goods as I can and use my crafty team of cooks/ researchers to find ways to keep some shelf stable local goodies all year.

Obviously, that's a whole lot, right?

Well, it's got to start somewhere and it starts here: check this logo out ;) canva and some hyperfocus for the win.

What do you MISS from the good ol FKTG days? What are your "must haves" OR "must replicate"- because we will be working on serving up healthier versions of our poutines.

Anyways- it's great to be ALMOST back ;)

Alright, friends, patrons, followers, foodies, and the rest of you, here's the announcement I've been putting off making:

FK That's Good was an idea created between myself (Claire) and Erin from Aroostook Beef Company. Our goal was to serve local beef in a fast food way to share with you all the importance of knowing what you're eating. The first summer was a lot of trial and error but we got into a good cadence/ rhythm in knowing what we have to offer and what you all wanted to eat (all the Philly poutine & all the brisket).

Two summers in a row, we spent our time traveling and feeding, two things we love to do.

With that said, it's time we let you all know that we won't be returning in the summer of 2024. The trailer is for sale/ lease and I would be willing to work with anyone who wants to keep some of the same foods going. I'll share recipes and hacks, heck, I might even work for you ;) A poutine truck would SLAY.

In the interim, I am going solo and doing the personal chef thing. Find me & follow me at Claire Caters. I have some openings if you want a private chef for your family/ business holiday party but these are booking QUICKLY. I'm doing sushi platters, taco bars, mac & cheese bars, family meals, meal prep, and parties.

Thanks, FK and the rest of you, for all of the love, support, trial and error, feedback, and most of all, for your love of food. Without you all, our little experiment would have ended much sooner.

Alright, a few updates on the fundraiser for Recovery in the Valley.

First- we have a date change as there is a fundraiser at Pell Motors for the Wisdom Soccer Team that was moved to our previous planned day. We will have our yard sale going from 12-6 on Sunday October 8th. If you have items you want to donate, please message Claire Nichols on her personal account.

Second- this isn't a change as much as an all call. We are seeking volunteers to do a couple of things. We need volunteers the week before the event to sort through the donated goods. We also need volunteers on that day to run the yard sale. We need volunteers to go to local businesses for donations/ raffle items.

Third- We decided to add a raffle that will run two weeks BEFORE the event. We are seeking businesses to donate gift certificates/ products in order to support this cause. A healthy community means a stronger business system.

Fourth- We will have the food truck open to sell our typical fair, but we will also have a few freezer meals available for families at a low cost to take home and store away for a rainy/ snowy day. These meals will be made by donated beef from Aroostook Beef Company. Without the generosity of this business, we wouldn't be able to do what we are doing. So, even if you don't want more "stuff", you can come and support the cause by stocking up your freezer.

Fifth- we will have some speakers and we will be discussing addiction. If you have young kids, please come out and understand what resources are available. We must have these conversations if we are going to work together to save our youth.

That's it for now! Please reach out if you can/ want to volunteer or if you have donations.
