Around 8:30am this morning power was restored to Abbey Springs. Thank you for your continued patience as we navigate the weekend and all the changes the weather has caused. We will continue to monitor the weather and update you as any changes arise (fingers crossed we are in the clear!).
The weekend schedule is currently on as planned, just with some minor changes that are noted below. As of now, the status of current operations is as follows:

Cart Parade - The Cart Parade is still on as scheduled; 10am pre-judging and 11am parade.

Rec Center & Pools - The workout areas & indoor pool are both currently open. The outdoor pool will open at its normal time of 10am.

Clubhouse Grille - The Clubhouse Grille is now open for dining and back on their normal schedule.

Yacht Club - Planned to open for normal hours. Entertainment is also on as planned.

Below Deck - Will open as scheduled.

Golf Course - The course is currently open. Due to the power outage, many of the carts were not able to be charged overnight. Because of this, Unit Owners are allowed to use their personal carts on the Course for the time being for their round.

As of now, everything else is on as scheduled. We again thank you and ask for your patience as we play catch-up. Our goal is to ensure the most enjoyable weekend possible moving forward.

If power is not restored by 7:00pm, the Yacht Club will not be open this evening.
Food options for tonight are:
Clubhouse Grille Pasta & Salad Buffet (no pizza), no reservation required
Below Deck has their full menu (Unit Owners only)
We are continuing to monitor the situation, thank you for your patience.

All of Abbey Springs is currently without power and there is very limited cell reception due to the volume of people on property.
Dirty Boogie on the Yacht Club Patio has been cancelled. Smilin' Dave's performance is currently tentative.
There will be no food service on property until power is restored.
The Pizza & Pasta buffet at the Clubhouse Grille is currently still on schedule, but will be only pasta & salad unless power is restored, allowing the Grille to make pizzas.
Both the outdoor and indoor pools are closed for the time being for everyone's safety.
We will update you further as the situation progresses. Thank you for your patience.

Abbey Springers! Here is some fun history to our property. I’ve always admired these two barns. Enjoy!

2026 is the 250th anniversary of the United States of America. Over the next 250 days we will be highlighting historic people, places or things from around Walworth County.

Up next is Edward Ayer’s Twin Barns

Most lakeshore estates of the Gilded Age included several gardens and an inland farm. Edward Ayer’s 1200-acre property included his home (The Oaks) now Abbey Springs on the lake shore, two farms, and five miles of walking paths.
Mr. Ayer named his two farms Upland #1 and Upland #2. As you look at the barns from county road BB near Walworth, the one on your right was used for beef cattle; the one on the left, for dairy cattle. The large barns were built of Oregon fir and gray shake cladding. The roof and siding were assembled with wooden pegs and hand-made nails. In 1913 it was reported that the barns were electrified and a milking machine had been installed. The acreage was beautified by a mile of stone fence.

Apparently, there was a stone underground passageway beneath South Shore Drive connecting their lakeside house and the farm. Mrs. Ayer enjoyed riding her horse through the oak forest on their property and used the passageway to the farm so she didn’t have to worry about the automobiles on the road.
The “twin barns” were sold in 1916 and 1918, but were noted in a 1985 survey as “visually outstanding.”
