Hello All, We're just a couple of days away from it being 9 months since Aaron's last seizure, and about a week away from 9 months since surgery! Time is sure flying quickly!! Aaron is doing AMAZING! His scar is mostly non-existent. Dr. Martinez-Gonzalez absolutely gets an A++ on stitches (although....

6-month Post-Op Check!

What a difference (not even) a year makes!! Today we were at UPMC for Aaron's 6-month testing and checks. First, the Neuropsyche. Aaron says he felt like some of it went very well, but some of it probably not so well. He still has some issues with naming things occasionally, so that is probably to w...

Well folks, we hate to do this but ... as per many good intentions, the latest announcement about a new restaurant opening in our space must be rescinded. :/ The young woman wanting to start her own place is unable to get funding, so she cannot move forward.

Everything else still stands, however! Aaron is still doing amazing and I realized I forgot to share a picture of his scar. (Always gotta have something good with the bad news, right?!)

Hello everyone!

It's been a while since we updated you, and we have some exciting news. :)

Aaron is doing AMAZING! His speech is great (except for when he's fatigued, but I think most of us stumble with words when we're tired). He still struggles with "Giraffe" - which is really just a running joke at this point in time. As his sister-in-law said, "Who cares about 'giraffe'?!!"

His short-term memory has improved by leaps and bounds. For a while he was carrying around a pocket-sized notebook so he could write down everything he needed to do, things he wanted to remember to tell people, etc. but I haven't seen him use the notebook for a while, so I think he's feeling much more confident with his memory.

He still struggles with names, but I'm still not worried about that. He's at 5 months post-surgery (and yes, no seizures!!) and the surgeon said we don't worry about ANY of it until at least 6 months. As well as he's done, I don't think we'll be worried at 6 months!

In other news, we want you to keep your eyes open on the restaurant space! While WE will not be re-opening, we've been looking long and hard for someone to open some type of restaurant (NOT fast food!) in the space. It's had a makeover and will look quite different, but we think you'll like what's coming next! (Yes, I'm going to leave you hanging with that little bit of information! Until we have a name and things are getting closer to an open date, we'll leave you with a bit of intrigue and mystery.) We know you'll be eager to give it a try and we hope you'll continue to support a great little local place.

As always, we both want to thank you all for being such a great community of customers and friends. It has meant so much to us throughout this journey!

Hello Everyone!

It's been a while since I updated everyone and a couple have reached out recently, so it's time!

Aaron is doing REALLY well. The only things he still struggles with are names (even his best friend's, so it's an issue), short-term memory and the occasional wrong/lost word. He's learning to use substitute words when he can't think of the correct word, so that helps tremendously! Sometimes he says the opposite of what he means, so being on your toes and being able to realize he might mean "up" when he says "down" is a real bonus! I think, for the most part, he has come to accept that this is going to happen - at least for a while longer. He doesn't get as frustrated as he did for a while there, so that is a relief. It was so hard to watch his mood sinking when he was frustrated and a bit depressed because he wasn't where he thought he should be with recovery!!

He's at just over 4 months seizure-free!!! He won't begin to wean off from his meds until the 6-month mark, but in the past ... even with his meds, he had seizures. I look at Facebook Memories from the past year and I am blown away with everything that has transpired since his "armpit injury" last March! This is probably THE most life-changing year in either of our lives - and a great change of life, it is!

We're still navigating life without the restaurant. Not sure what's next for either of us, but we're still headed in a new direction ... one day at a time. :) We miss our customers and friends! You all were our "social life," so that sure is a big void we didn't anticipate.

One thing we'd like to ask of you is that you share the link to get his old apartment rented. He lived in it for about 4 years, but he's now sharing the little house with me so all it's doing is sitting empty. Thank you so much!

I'll update periodically - like when he begins weaning off of meds, etc. - but there isn't much to update on from day-to-day, so it will be sporadic.

Much love,
Lori & Aaron

**We're putting a "pause" on furniture & equipment sales for now, as we have a couple of people interested in purchasing the entire property. I'll re-post if it all falls through!"

We will be selling all of our kitchen equipment, furniture, dishes, and supplies, and the commercial space will soon be available for rent. If you or someone you know would like to open up a restaurant, tell them to let us know ASAP - before we sell all of the equipment and it is removed! (It will not be available for rent - for sale, only.)

**I'm getting an overwhelming response on equipment, furniture and supplies! If you're interested and would like to see anything, please let me know ASAP and we can show you. We'll be taking "best offer" and will let you know if yours was best, within a couple of days!**

Thank you in advance!
