Requirements: Candidates should have some bartending experience and either already possess or be willing to obtain a state-mandated alcohol server certificate.
2026 Certification Requirements
Effective January 1, 2026, new South Carolina laws (H. 3430) mandate specific training for all alcohol servers:
Mandatory Training: All bartenders must complete a South Carolina Department of Revenue (SCDOR) approved server training program.
Deadline: New hires must complete this training within 30 days of employment.
Certification: Once completed, certificates are valid for three years and must be available for inspection while you are on duty.
Age Requirement: You must be at least 21 years old to serve alcohol in South Carolina.
