In Memory of Nirmal “Nims Dai” Purja (1983–2026)

A proud son of Nepal, Nims Dai inspired the world with his courage and determination. He became the first person to climb all 14 of the world’s 8,000-meter peaks in just over six months. At the time of his passing, he was attempting to become the first person to climb all 14 peaks a second time without supplemental oxygen. Broad Peak was the 12th summit in that extraordinary quest. Over his remarkable career, he successfully stood on the summits of 8,000-meter peaks 57 times.
