Thank you to everyone who came out to our June book and bottle meeting.
Our next book is To Shape a Dragon's Breath by Moniquill Blackgoose. This is the first book in the Nampeshiweisit series, a fantasy novel about a young Indigenous woman named Anequs who bonds with a dragon on her island home, forcing her to attend a colonizer-run dragon academy where she must navigate prejudice and cultural clashes while learning to control her dragon's power and preserve her identity. The book is a coming-of-age story that blends dragon-rider tropes with themes of colonialism, identity, and Indigenous culture, earning awards like the Nebula and Lodestar.
