McMillan's World Famous BBQ, owned by Louis McMillan, who has been in the barbecue business in Fannin since 1974, is not a Pit Master, but he has "mastered the pit"! McMillan’s philosophy has worked to have his restaurant ranked among the Top 50 barbecue joints in the world by Texas Monthly three times in the past 10 years. Every five years, Texas Monthly dispatches its food editor and other food

experts to barbecue joints across the state to compile its Top 50 list. McMillan’s made the list for the first time in 2003 and again in 2008. The Fannin eatery was one of 18 restaurants in the 2008 list to repeat this year. The Top 50 list was published in the May 23 edition. The secret to over 40 years of delighting the palates of BBQ connoisseurs from all over the world? "I love what I do and I do what I love!"

The McMillan family has a lot to celebrate. 🧡

We are so proud to celebrate Ayanna Moten, granddaughter of McMillan’s BBQ owners Louis and Shirley McMillan, and daughter of their daughter, Teri McMillan Moten (also a Longhorn alumna).

Ayanna just graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a STEM-certified Master of Science in Marketing from one of the top MSM programs in the country.

And she did all of this at only 21 years old.

This was not an easy program. It was highly competitive, included a small cohort of only 62 students, and condensed 37 hours of coursework into just 10 months. Ayanna finished with a 3.594 GPA. 👏🏾

But what makes us most proud is not just the degree. It is the young woman she has become.

Ayanna is smart, resilient, focused, and grounded. She does not follow the crowd just because the crowd is moving. She knows how to pivot when things do not go as planned, and she continues to walk in who God created her to be.

Most importantly, she remains rooted in her faith, and we are grateful for God’s hand over her life and her journey. 🙌🏾

Ayanna, your McMillan family loves you and is cheering you on every step of the way.
