It’s the new year, and is both an end and beginning for us around these parts. Two of our most beloved folks are departing us this week - &

Both of them have been with us for about 4 years, and are moving onto amazing things. If you’ve had the opportunity to be served by either of them, you know how special these humans are. The words I’ll be able to write here won’t be able to fully capture the impact they’ve had on narrative, our team, on me personally.

Cheyenne - your kindness and empathy throughout the years, coupled with an unyielding desire to do and be better for those around you has been a joy to watch, to benefit from as a friend. I’ve had the great honor of seeing you develop over the years from who you were when you first joined the team, grow into a highly skilled barista, take on the responsibility of management, and become a steady leader. Our team has consistently been better each day because of you, and we wouldn’t be where we are without your consistency of heart. The team is going to sorely miss your leadership, and more importantly the seemingly effortless way you infect a sense of calm to the chaos of what we do.

Justin - you came to us to learn and grow when we opened the former Bellingham location, moving away from family and friends to be a part of what we do. Since then, you’ve not only been able to progress what we do, but embody who we are. You’ve managed to work at every location we’ve had a hand in (including assisting in opening a roastery over this past year). I’ve travelled the country with you, shared moments of sadness and joy, and watched you grow exponentially over the years. This team won’t be the same without you, but we’re truly grateful to have had you on our team for all these years.

I hope you both know how incredibly proud of you I am, and grateful all of us are for our time together. Wishing you the best as you move on to new things :)

Throwback photos from some of our past throwdowns! Throwdown is going down in t-minus 3 days. This is hands down our favorite event we do all year. The best part is always getting to spend time with all of you, so we are so stoked to see you there 🥳

Just a few reminders, we have some super fun prizes! Our sponsors really came through this year - .usa - - - - & - ! The throwdown is a 32 person bracket. The top 3 milk doodlers will not only get to take home some sweet prizes, they will also get to walk away with some serious cash -🥇$600, 🥈$250, 🥉$150. If you’re not into milk doodles but like free stuff, there will be opportunity for you to win some goodies during the costume contest! 🧛

And if all that wasn’t reason enough to come, there will be pizza from , delicious gluten free treats from , drinks, and candy galore! IT IS THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN! We are excited to invite you all to our 6th annual Halloween Throwdown and costume party! 🎃Throwdown goes down on Wednesday, October 29th - doors/signups at 6:30pm, first pour at 7:15pm. ☕️🎃🪿👻

Prizes for costume contest winners and our top 3 throwdown competitors provided by our lovely sponsors, without whom, none of this would be possible - big shoutout to our friends over at - .usa - - - & - ! Plus we will be throwing in some extras because we love you and y’all deserve it! ❤️ For our top 3 milk doodle competitors, you’ll be walking home with some cash too (🥇$600, 🥈$250, 🥉$150), as is tradition :)

As always milk doodle judging criteria will be scored on a 5 point system (balance/symmetry, line clarity, color distribution, creativity/difficulty, & ex*****on) - if you’re at all familiar with the WLACO rule set, it is that less speed & presentation. We’ll have some cups and pitchers for you obvs, but feel free to bring your own!

Did we mention there will be food, drinks, and shenanigans??? So grab a friend (or family member, or neighbor, or co-worker, or special someone, or silly goose, anyone will do really) and your best costume and come hang with us on 10/29!! 👻
