Wednesdays are clothing bank days from 9a-11a. Even in the mundane of neighbors picking out the things they need, there are moments like this, where a volunteer is literally being the hands and feet of Jesus by tying the shoes of someone Jesus loves.

A special thank you to Don’s Cleaners’ Coat-A-Kid program! They brought coats for our kiddos last week and just take a look at these friends who are thrilled to be able to ‘twin’ all winter long!

Teens can be challenging. They sulk, they can do a lot of things to push people out, even well-meaning adults. What wins them over? Consistency. The showing up over and over. The same friendly face who really sees them and wants to know them. Making space for teens doesn’t require a lot. But it does require time, over and over again. And that’s what our Soaring Scholars team does every day.

We are thankful that a Forward Together grant from the City Of Evansville is helping Potter’s Wheel begin to make a physical space for our teens. It’s a work in progress, just like the teens we see every day. And just like our teens, this space will transform over time into a beautiful masterpiece!

Each day volunteer tutors sit down and spend some time with our kids. They are primarily focused on reading, writing and math but they’re also genuinely interested in the child. Volunteers get to hear about dreams, what the student wants to be when they grow up, what is exciting to them. These volunteers can become another trusted mentor in a student’s life. We are thankful for people who pour into our kids!

If you wonder how you can get involved, give us a call at 812-401-4440!

On Weds, we posted about the fleet of vehicles needed to transport kids each day. Well, that very evening the red transit, which we lovingly call Clifford, broke down, leaving our staff stranded (all kids were safely home).

This was not in our plans, yet another repair bill. But God is using this as an opportunity for a local church to step up and be a HUGE blessing to Potter’s Wheel.

We are so THANKFUL to St. Paul’s UCC and Pastor J.D. Rose for your support and generosity ❤️ They are covering this repair!! What an encouragement and a blessing to our staff and students ❤️

This is the sobering reality of nonprofit work. We are creative, innovative, and as we call ourselves here at PW, we’re scrappy! If you’ve put off donating to your favorite local nonprofit, don’t wait any longer, now’s the time. And we don’t mean just Potter’s Wheel. There are many worthy places that will use your funds to make a lasting difference in our community.

If you’ve never given to PW or it’s been a while, we’d be honored for you to join the PW family! Give at: https://www.potterswheelministries.com/donate-1

To understand the growth in the number of kids we’re serving each day, just look at what it takes to transport them home. It’s a fleet of vans and a bus!

Join us in this pursuit of neighborhood transformation, one family at a time, by becoming a monthly donor. Your investment goes straight to benefit students and their futures.

When we talk about school partnerships, we’re not talking about it in the abstract. We aren’t talking ‘in theory’. We’re talking about an actual, deep relationship with real people at a real school. We’re talking about real relationships like what we have with the principal at Glenwood Leadership Academy, Amber Santana. Amber has full knowledge of Potter’s Wheel’s role inside and outside the school with students and families. She’s an amazing advocate of our work (we think the world of her too!) and we are BLESSED when we can get her in a room to share about what this partnership means to her students, to her teachers, and to herself personally.
