We got some brand new specials coming atcha this week👊🏽

First up: Onion Smashburger with furikake onion rings and gochujang ranch😮 This special is the collaborative brainchild of three of our crewmembers - Chris Caplaneris with the smashburger, ryan.griffy with the furikake onion rings, & Lucia with the gochujang ranch☄️ and lemme tell you this buggah is MEANNNN. The onions get smashed right into the burger, then flipped so they caramelize and to top it all off, we’ve got a house-made smash spread & cheese. Plus FURIKAKE onion rings that are so crispy and sturdy and don’t fall out of the breading when you take one bite. Basically, this is a simple dish done right.

Next up we’ve got a Chocolate Haupia Cream Pie🍰 This dessert is iconic of Oahu’s north shore and brings back summertime memories, cruising with my friends no agenda in sight. Made by Chef Justin (aka my husband) Humboldt, Ca Vacation Rental ! He put love into these cream pies and even made his own whipped cream & toasted coconut topping. Onolicious🤙🏽

You win some, you dimsum🥟

It’s Thursday, arguably the lamest day of the week. You’re not quite to Friday yet and you’re tired from Monday thru Wednesday. No worry beef curry, we’re always thinking a-bao you, so we brought back one of our best selling specials: SGC Bao Buns.

Three soft, pillowy bao buns filled with cucumbers, our Spicy Garlic Chicken, Japanese pickled veggies, and cilantro. Kinda like a Chinese-Japanese taco🌮

You know what they say…Sun’s out buns out☀️ so hele on over and grab this special on this bao-tiful day!

PS: I worked four bao related puns into that post you’re welcome😝

🍍NEW SPECIAL ALERT🍍

Ahi Poke Nachos — guys I’m excited about this one! Quick history fact: we had these on the menu circa 2018, when the food truck was just a baby🥹

Fast forward 8 years, and one of our crew members not only suggested this as a special, but leveled it up with a few added touches, like a house-made unagi sauce!

So here’s the breakdown: hand-cut and fried wonton chips, our ahi poke in a sesame ginger shoyu sauce, your choice of sweet chili aioli or wasabi aioli, unagi sauce, furikake, tobiko, and locally grown microgreens💥

Dominic recently visited Hawaii and experienced our culture firsthand. When asked why/how he thought of this special, he said that our Poke Nachos are a fusion item that represents Hawaii well, with influences from many cultures, and I have to agree. And that it is a fresh take on poke, utilizing it in a different way than we normally serve it (bowled up with rice). And that crunchy-cold contrast makes it a great bar food/Pupu option AND perfect for this warm weather we’ve been having.

All I know is that I am actually back home in Hawaii right now, and all I can think about is getting this special in my belly😋

I had a realization the other day, when talking to a friend.

We were talking about the Best of Humboldt 2026 because the nomination round is happening now, for the whole month of May. In my head, we have chicken sandwiches, french fries, fish & chips, nachos…a lot of the categories up for nomination. But in their mind, nachos are nachos, and fish & chips come with tartar sauce, a chicken sandwich is what you get at Chick-fil-A. In other words, “traditional,” or the norm.

I think because I’m from Hawaii and grew up with all the flavors and ingredients in our dishes, to me, what we serve is the norm. I love seeing how differently we all think and view things based on our life experiences. (Seriously, it’s something I notice and think about a lot…it fascinates me because it makes me realize how broad and varied the human experience is, and here we all are trying to understand each other and make the world go round🥲🩵).

It also made me realize that this is what we do best — taking the familiar (aka the “traditional”) and putting our own, Hawaii-fied spin on it. And I think that’s a beautiful thing🌺

Anyway idk where I’m going with this post lol. Half of me just wanted to post something real in the midst of all this AI generated stuff nowadays. Try to connect in a real way with real people.

But I guess I should tie it into the business😂 If you haven’t tried our non-traditional (or traditional, depending on your world view!) versions of these classic dishes, hele on over and DO IT. And if you feel so inclined, nominate us in whatever category you think we deserve to win! Or if you think some other local small business does it better, nominate them! A nomination for any local small business is a win in my book. The link to vote is in our bio.

Alright Pineapple Ohana thanks for coming to my TedTalk🍍🩵🤙🏽

POV: You planned the best and most unique Mother’s Day this year🌺✨ Bring mom to Hawaii for the afternoon!

Hele on over and celebrate Mother’s Day with us! Treat her to a Li Hing Margarita (iykyk😉) or a Guava the Hops sunrise cocktail…or a Li Hing Sunrise Mocktail. Our first ever cocktail specials debuting for Mother’s Day🍹

Then have a Mother’s Day photo sesh on our swing & deck yourself out in Hawaii-ready swag (see first photo for inspo), my favorite being thee most expertly sewn aloha shirts from fellow local small business

And to top it all off, mom gets free dessert —mini beignets (dine in only).

If that’s not enough to convince Mom that we’re in Hawaii, I’ll dust off my pidgin accent😝 just kidding (all my hawaii friends, I know I know I never really had one to begin with😂). But there will be Hawaiian tunes wafting through the air, ono grinds, and the birds of paradise outside are blooming like crazy right now.

TLDR: Give mom the gift of paradise tomorrow. And if she wonders why the plans were so last minute, blame it on me cuz I only now am making this post at 9pm the night before😂 Happy Mother’s Day🤙🏽🌺🤙🏽
