I’ve got some fun bike candy for the motorcycle enthusiasts out there coming to Eureka Springs this weekend for Bikes Blues & BBQ!
Exhibit #1 is my 22 year-old dad, Roger Moffett, on a German Dampfkraftwagen he bought for $58 while in Varese, Italy for a work-study program. In his letter to my mom (before they were married and before I existed) back home in Columbia, MO, he mentions that the bike is “of 355 cc displacement” and if my research is correct, that means it was a "Ladepumpe" (Pre-War Twin). I have also included his Italian license to ride.
Exhibit #2 shows both my grandad and uncle, George and Dave Moffett respectively, on my Uncle Dave’s first Harley. I believe it was a Sportster.
Exhibit #3 we have my husband and Gaskins Cabin Steakhouse proprietor, Chuck Barrick, on my late uncle Dave’s Harley Davidson ‘93 Dyna Wide Glide which he custom powder coated black and had the motor rebuilt by Worth Harley Davidson in NKC.
Exhibit # 4 shows Chuck, modeling another of Uncle Dave’s Harley’s, this one a Centennial 100 year Silver Edition.
Now for all that entertainment we believe it should be named “Bikers Blues and Prime”! And we think you should ride YOUR beautiful bikes over to Gaskins Cabin, park it amongst its bike friends under the stars and trees, and come on inside for what has been unanimously named the best prime rib in Eureka Springs and/or ever! We also have a Soulful Smokey blues cherry highball-tart dark and muddled luxardo with premium blended scotch, a splash of lemon club soda and a bing cherry afloat!!!
