The annual HANOR Smokin’ Red Dirt BBQ comes to an end, but what a ride it has been!
A statement from the HANOR Company:
With a heavy heart, we announce the end of the HANOR Red Dirt BBQ. We were blessed to sponsor this 17-year event. Regardless of the wind, rain, snow, hail, sleet, and occasionally a little sunshine, the contestants and citizens of Enid showed their love of BBQ. A simple thank you cannot adequately express our deep gratitude for tireless volunteers who gave it all they had and often even more, but no one gave more than the "Queen of the Q," Lynne Benkendorf.
To the contestants, volunteers, judges, vendors, citizens of Enid, and the multitude of BBQ buddies we met over the years, and on behalf of the HANOR Company, THANK YOU!

18 years ago the Enid News & Eagle and the HANOR Company took a leap of faith and said yes to an event that nobody heard of or thought would even last, let alone for 17 years. It’s been a pleasure to work alongside with each and every one of you. The friendships that have formed are special. I’ve always said that this ‘barbecue family’ is one that takes care of each other no matter the amount of miles in between or the length of time between visits.
This event’s success is shown by the amount of teamwork our community put in and the willingness to learn about the love of barbecue. What was even more special was the fact that our team of volunteers and supporters were together from the beginning to the end. Each spring felt like a homecoming of sorts, everyone fell into step and let the magic happen.
