Thanks to the combined efforts Alhamdulillah we were able to work with Muslims Giving Back to help sponsor the last ten nights of Ramadan on their Hunger Truck project. Every night, during the month of Ramadan the truck sets up and distributes food to those in need. Rain or shine the truck is there every night during Ramadan. The rest of the year the truck comes every Friday and Saturday nights.

On March 20th, we *officially* started this humble effort on Long Island to feed neighbors we came across impacted by COVID-19— whether it be due to loss of wages/ employment economically or illness physically. In less than a month, we have provided over a *100 families* with groceries and/ or hot meals. Most of those we have served are single mothers in shelters, domestic abuse survivors, struggling immigrant families & those impacted by illness.

✨As days passed, the needs and requests surpassed our expectations, leading us to organize a group of like-minded volunteers and groups committed to serve those in need of food in Long Island and beyond.

✨ With the help of spaces which have been donated to us to store groceries in bulk and work out of, we have been able to deliver to those most in need not only in LI, but in Queens, Brooklyn, Bronx/ Harlem and Manhattan. And due to the trust of family, friends, peers and strangers and our success in working collectively with amazingly kind volunteers, already established local groups, and businesses, we have been able to collect funds to continue this work for the coming weeks, and we hope months.

✨To help those who have supported us and those who want to reach us for assistance, we are creating a page to complement our running Instagram page. We want everyone to be able to access on multiple platforms the work we’ve been able to do because communities have come together in the small—yet powerful— act of feeding one another.

Our name is inspired by the one and only Mr. Rogers, a childhood favorite of ours, when he said:

“When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news,” Rogers said to his television neighbors, “my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’”
