Two and a half hours spent cleaning the walk-in floor for the first time this decade.
I spent 2.5 hours cleaning the center aisle of our walk in cooler at work today. I just started as a cook at this retirement community about a month ago. My coworkers are 3 old men who have worked here for 25-30 years and they refuse to clean anything. I know it isn't perfect, but the floor needs to be replaced anyways and there is only so much I can do by myself.

Anyways, they spent all morning giving me s**t for cleaning, and I just needed to vent about it really quick. Thanks for reading this, my brother's and sisters in the kitchen.

San Pedro Square food hall is charging a “service fee” without actually providing any service. You order at the restaurant’s cashier, hunt for a table that’s usually dirty, pick up your own food when it’s ready, and then bus your own tray and trash—basically doing everything yourself.

We only noticed the 4% service fee after paying, and I have no idea what “service” it covered since we literally did it all. On top of that, the POS screen was angled just enough so the cashier could watch every selection we made, which felt unnecessary and awkward.

The default tip options were absurd—18%, 20%, 22%—for what? My only interaction was a cashier taking my order. That added up to $17.60 in suggested tip plus the $3.19 service fee. Honestly, the whole setup feels entitled and ridiculous. I should have just left zero.

Went to this what seemed like a mom and pop shop. Friendly folks. Got 2 items to go. But then the checkout hit. Automatic service fee and a tip screen. I tipped 15% because i was feeling the guilt trip. Needless to say, I will not return. Why cant you just integrate the cost into your menu? Really disappointed to be honest. I hate tipping culture.
