Join us tonight at 6pm for a special event where we'll be joined by the creator of Handshake Digestif Shahin Khojastehzad for a dinner and drinks experience.

Taking inspiration from Italy's bittersweet herbal liqueur amaro, Handshake combines various elements of Shahin's childhood in diverse Portland, ME and his Persian heritage: lemongrass from Cambodia, hibiscus from the Latin America, Italian digestivos from his wife’s maternal side of the family, Persian tea from Iran, to name just a few.

The dinner starts at 6pm with doors opening at 5:30pm. The meal will have a Persian inspired menu, as well as several different drinks featuring Handshake Digestif for $60 per person including tax (tip extra).

Meet the Maker: Dinner with Shahin Khojastehzad, Creater of Handshake Digestif

Somehow, summer is in its waning days, but here at Schera's patio season goes on and on. That means a few more paired dinners on the patio before the snow flies. We'll be back into a more regular monthly schedule in October, but we've gotten a really special opportunity to bring you a great event this Monday as we'll be joined by the creator of Handshake Digestif Shahin Khojastehzad for a dinner and drinks experience.

Taking inspiration from Italy's bittersweet herbal liqueur amaro, Handshake combines various elements of Shahin's childhood in diverse Portland, ME and his Persian heritage: lemongrass from Cambodia, hibiscus from the Latin America, Italian digestivos from his wife’s maternal side of the family, Persian tea from Iran, to name just a few.

Shahin managed and owned a James Beard nominated bier cafe in Portland for 14 years. His passion for the food and beverage industry brought him around the world where encountered a lot of regional herbal elixirs that helped digestion after a big meal. In those travels, flavors, memories, and sensory experiences left their imprint. Shahin wrote the first recipe & enlisted his childhood friend & head distiller at Law’s Whiskey, Samuel Poirier to help dial in process. After seven years of fine tuning Handshake, Shahin was finally ready to share it with the world in 2023.

Tapas on the Patio, Sat. June 20, 7pm

Is this our most ambitious paired dinner menu ever? Maybe! We're going all out to serve many tapas bites over the course of the evening along with some really great Spanish wines: think Tempranillo, Albarino, Garnacha, Verdejo. Spain is blessed with amazing grapes and really delicious, crushable wines perfect for a summer evening. In the tradition of great tapas bars throughout the country, we're hoping to create a relaxed environment complete with shared plates, full glasses and great conversation.

The dinner starts at 7pm with doors opening at 6pm. The meal will feature a lot Spanish wine plus many tapas plates for $100 per person including tax (tip extra).
