Recently our Downtown Developement Association (DDA) met with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) to showcase “the achievements and ongoing success” of MEDC Region 2. Partners included MEDC, Networks Northwest, Grand Traverse Plastics, the Village, DDA and Chamber.

Chef Anita provided a gourmet buffet lunch of Butter Chicken Masala, Chana Masala, Naan, Three Chutneys, and Salad.

Guests held a meeting after lunch at her restaurant.

BESAN CHILLA
The pancake that thinks it’s a bread.

“Besan” is finely ground gram/chickpea flour, and a chilla is a thin, savory Indian pancake. The batter is mixed with water, herbs, vegetables and spices, then spread on a hot griddle and cooked until golden brown.

How do you eat it? Fold it. Tear it. Roll it. Dip it. Chutney, pickle and yogurt are classic companions.
