There is so much to be proud of in Elba—and sometimes we need to stop and remind ourselves just how special our small businesses are.

Behind every storefront is a person.

A family.
An employee working hard.
An owner who opened early and stayed late.
Someone who took a risk, invested their savings, created jobs and chose Elba as the place to build their dream.

Small businesses won’t always be perfect. None of us are. But what makes our locally owned businesses special is that the people behind the counter are also our neighbors, our friends and members of our families and our community.

Elba Main Street wants to celebrate the businesses and people who give our community its character.

We’re calling it:

We’ll share some of their stories, accomplishments and the reasons they make Elba a better place to call home.

And we’re beginning with a business that has certainly given Elba something to be proud of—JJ’s Barbecue, an award-winning Alabama barbecue destination right here in our Main Street District.

Great communities don’t just happen.

We build them. We support them. And we take pride in them.

Because we are a small business, we pour our heart and soul into everything we do.

We may not always get everything right, but one thing we will ALWAYS do is try to make it right. We are human, and mistakes happen. What matters is how we respond and how hard we work to correct them.

Before you bash a small business, please remember there are real people behind that business who are working hard, sacrificing, and doing everything they can to get it right.

If your order isn’t right, please give us the opportunity to fix it before taking it to social media. Inbox the business, call the business number, or even reach out to the owner directly. One of the unique things about small businesses is that many of you actually have direct access to the owners.

Talk to us. Give us a chance to make it right.

Small businesses need your support, patience, and understanding. We appreciate every single person who chooses to support us. 🙏🏾
