Meet our featured artist for the month of October: Original Art by Jamie!
Oil painter and mixed media artist Jamie “JZ” Lockwood has been creating art for as long as she can remember. Raised by two artists, she was inspired by her father’s classical oil painting and her mother’s free-spirited creativity. Today, JZ combines traditional layered oil painting techniques with an imaginative approach that transforms the ordinary into something unexpected.
Her work explores the space between reality and imagination, often featuring animals, portraits, and familiar objects with a whimsical or slightly eerie twist. JZ especially enjoys creating fictional characters and dreamlike scenes that invite viewers to escape the stresses of everyday life and reconnect with the sense of wonder found in childhood.
Although oil painting is her primary medium, JZ also explores sculpture, acrylics, printmaking, assemblage, ink, watercolor, and collage. Through her art, she hopes to tell stories, spark curiosity, and remind viewers that imagination has no limits.
