Highlights from our latest Scotch Club dinner on Wednesday, May 27! Our chefs prepared an incredible menu to accompany each pour — it was an evening full of flavor and great conversation, as our host, Glynn Gutzeit, taught guests about specialty whiskeys.

Sunday, May 10, marked Eric Kleinfelt’s final shift with the State Room team. Eric first joined Kellogg in 2023 as a Housekeeping Student Supervisor before serving as a Front Desk Student Supervisor. In 2024, he began working at the State Room as a student host and later grew into a trusted student supervisor and closing manager on duty multiple nights each week.

During his time with the State Room, Eric developed strong leadership skills managing employees of all ages and emphasized the importance of guest interaction and hospitality. He also took a special interest in the restaurant’s wine program, creating a weekly pre-shift staff learning experience featuring wine pours, tasting notes and pairing suggestions.

Eric graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Hospitality Business from The School of Hospitality Business. We wish him the very best in his next chapter!

We had a wonderful time hosting this month’s Scotch Club on Tuesday, April 14 at Kellogg Hotel & Conference Center. Guests enjoyed a thoughtfully curated selection of scotches paired with a chef-crafted menu, featuring highlights like roasted corn chowder with saffron and Moroccan spiced wagyu beef skewers — each dish designed to complement the flavors of every pour.
