Our hearts are so full. The turnout for the charity tournament for our dad was simply outstanding. If there was a way to thank every single individual person we would- but this is the best way to thank the community.

Firstly, we are so thankful to have found a place for the bench for our dad , as it was requested by our friends to have the bench. This is an accessible way to visit our dad.

We will be in contact with the borough to get a veterans memorial flag.

Remaining money will be donated in our dad’s name to the American cancer society. Here’s to hoping they find a cure.

We want to remind people that our dad was kindness, peace and love personified. The best way to memorialize him is to be the best parts of him- while the bench is a good memorial, it’s not the best way to keep our dad alive in our hearts.

With that being said, we raised $3,320 🎉

As we approach what will arguably be our biggest charity tournament yet- we want to remind patrons and players of our rules.

- NO OUTSIDE FOOD OR DRINK OF ANY KIND. we will ask you to put it away.
-While we absolutely love our fuzzy friends, we kindly ask that no pets be brought to the event. With large crowds, food, music, and lots of activity, we want to ensure the safety and comfort of all patrons and furbabies. Thank you for understanding and helping us keep the event safe and enjoyable for everyone 🐾
- If you join and choose to leave for any reason during tournament time, you will not be guaranteed your two games. These are large tournaments with one pool table, we need to keep games moving in order to finish in a timely manner.
- bar will be opening at NOON and kitchen at TWO
- you can reach out or stop in to sign up.
- There will be prizes for winner and runner up!
- All proceeds go toward memorializing Papa Bear. As we expect this to be a very successful, charitable event, any additional proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society in Papa Bear’ s name. 🩵
- If you wish to donate but do not want to play, there will be a donation bucket!
- 10$ donation to play.
- For safeguarding reasons, we will not be posting publicly how much money was raised. It is the CHOICE of the recipient of funds to communicate how much was raised.
- Once you donate to play you ensure your spot! If for whatever reason you donate to play and can no longer attend, you will not be refunded. Every single dollar we raise for any of our tournaments is donated. We do not profit.

PLEASE be kind, courteous and patient as we expect this to be a crazy day! We’re all in this together as we raise funds to have an accessible way to visit and grieve our papa bear 💙

We’ve recently become aware that there have been conversations regarding the quote “come find your second chance in that secondhand smoke” on my dad’s memorial shirts.

I understand how some people may immediately connect that lyric to the fact that my dad passed away from lung cancer. Believe it or not, the type of cancer that took him is most common in women in their mid 30s with no history of smoking. But even if it wasn’t that ironic, that lyric was never meant to glorify smoking or make light of what happened to him. It comes from a song my dad and I used to sing together in the bar all the time, and to me, it represents exactly who he was and what he built at Kuzzins.

Anyone who truly knew my dad knew that he believed in second chances. Sometimes to a fault. He gave people room to grow, room to make mistakes, room to come back from hard times, and room to prove themselves not only to us, but to themselves. That lyric always reminded us of that part of him.

I also want to take a moment to clarify one last thing. My dad always wanted Kuzzins to remain a smoking bar unless state or federal law ever mandated otherwise. We had many conversations with him about it over the years, and he never once wavered in that decision. Whether people agreed with it or not, that was his choice, his vision, and part of the atmosphere he intentionally created.

The shirts were created to honor my father authentically. His personality, his values, the memories we shared, and the Kuzzins community he built around kindness, loyalty, acceptance, and yes… second chances at our smoking bar.

I’m going to post the song below because I genuinely encourage people to listen to it in full. If you do, I think you’ll understand why it reminds us so deeply of our dad and the home away from home he created for so many people at Kuzzins. 🩵

Thank you for supporting us in this memorial effort, it would have meant the world to Papa Bear 🕊️

We have recently been informed that negative messages have been sent to members of the Sherwood Association regarding the proposed placement of the memorial bench for our father.

While we appreciate the unwavering support, we kindly want to remind our community and patrons that the individuals receiving these messages were dear friends of our father’s. They were tasked with making a difficult decision, and we ask that they be treated with the same grace, kindness, and understanding that defined my father’s spirit.

Our dad had one of the gentlest souls, and above all else, we want that legacy to live on through all of us. The members of the Sherwood Association are our neighbors, friends, and family, and they deserve compassion and respect.

We are grateful to share that we are actively collaborating with members of the Sherwood Association, along with others in our community, to explore several additional locations within Dunmore for the memorial bench. Any suggestions for locations are more than welcome! ❤️🦌💙
