Yesterday, we took a little road trip to Elmore, Ohio, for our first "Destination Wedding" where we set up at Schedel Arboretum & Gardens and had the honor of catering what I can only describe as the Fairytale of all weddings.

If you've never been, I highly suggest taking a day to visit. Situated on over 17 acres of meticulously landscaped grounds, overlooking a sparkling pond adorned with lily pads and a 30' waterfall that can only be described as magical.

The largest station we've set up thus far, 32ft of crudité, house-made dips, seasonal fresh fruit, salads and a greek inspired main course featuring Pastitsio and Eggplant Moussaka, Lemon Oregano Roasted Potatoes and Greek style meatballs, with Watermelon cups drizzled with honey and sprinkled with fresh mint harvested from our own garden.

From the grounds, to the pavilion, to the signature Lavender Mojito cocktail, the food and to the happy couple themselves, it was nothing short of perfection.

And to my BFF crew, Bree & Lewis, who, gave up their Saturday after a long-ass week at their full time jobs, to come help me at mine — thank you. 🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾

This one is near and dear to my heart-
I am so, so proud of my sister from another mister, Carissa Kalsi who just released her newest creation- a coloring book that is full of whimsy and all things that bring a smile on even the cloudiest of days.

Childhood friends, who met in dance class, 🩰 and bonded over all the things that
12 years olds giggle and gasp about.
Her family became my own, and while we dont get to see each other as often as we'd like, we will forever be connected by a bond far greater than blood.. (something you'll hear more about if I ever get my own book finished.. if walls could talk.. 🤣)

Over the weekend, I took a short reprieve and headed to Luna Pier for a night out with friends. We met up at the Luna Pier Beach Cafe for a drama-free evening of live music, courtesy of Chris & the Mums.

Talk about the perfect venue for a night out. It doesn't get much better than live music on the beach.🎶🏖

It brought back memories of heading west to St. Joseph for the annual Venetian Festival. We'd pitch a tent in a friend's yard and spend the weekend baking in the sun, listening to the sounds of classic rock legends like Pat Benatar, CCR, Kansas, and more. We'd bond with complete strangers over ice-cold libations, then squeeze ourselves into the local speakeasy like sardines (and probably smelled like them too 🤣), dancing until the lights came on.

Good times.

But, as so often happens, rising costs and a handful of people who didn't know how to act in public, eventually brought an end to the festival—and with it, the tourism and economic boost it brought to local businesses.

It was a reminder that small businesses are only as sustainable as the communities that support them.

The saying, "If you build it, they will come," only goes so far.

Dundee, like so many other small towns, is proof that growth, while necessary to survive, doesn't always mean a community will thrive—especially when that growth is driven by corporations with bank accounts most small businesses can't match.

Small businesses are the heartbeat of our communities. They're the coffee shops where friendships are formed, the restaurants where anniversaries are celebrated, the boutiques where gifts are chosen with intention, and the places that sponsor the little league teams, donate to fundraisers, and show up when their neighbors need them.

Without them, the heartbeat fades, and eventually... the monitor flatlines.

As we roll into our eighth year of calling Dundee home, one thing has become abundantly clear: our ability to adapt—and the incredible people who've followed us on this wild adventure—are the reason we've been able to keep our doors open.

You haven't just helped us survive.
You've helped us thrive.💙
