Some stories deserve to be remembered.
I'm incredibly proud of my husband, Greg, family friend, Michael Foley, and the entire team at Year 8 Productions, alongside director Chris Pike, for bringing the film, Scars on the Mountain to life.
In the wake of Hurricane Helene, they didn't show up simply to document the devastation. That idea came months later. Within days, they were on the ground, serving communities in need and helping with rescue efforts.
After returning to the area several times in the following months, meeting people who were affected and listening to their stories, they wanted to help preserve moments that might otherwise have been forgotten.
I'm especially proud that Greg was part of telling these stories. They reveal not only the heartbreaking impact of the storm, but also the extraordinary resilience of the human spirit. In the midst of loss and uncertainty, ordinary people chose compassion over comfort, hope over despair, and service over self.
Scars on the Mountain is a beautiful reminder that, in the words of the film director, Chris Pike, our greatest strength isn't found in power or politics, but in how we care for one another.
The film is now streaming FREE on Angel Angel Network. And if you watch and share, proceeds will continue to help the people of Yancey County, NC.
