Yen Jing will close its door on June 30th, 2022. Thank you for the beautiful 31 years!
My name is Ching Hsia. My parents started Yen Jing on December 1991. We have met many people through out the years. We have witnessed two people having their first date, getting married, have kids, and their kids have kids… We were part of your lives as you were in ours. It has been a memorable journey. We had ups and downs, the good and the bad, and Covid. We have conquered all. But, now it is time for us to take a break and recuperate for the sake of our healths.
As we signed the closing papers, we teared out. It felt lIke sending your kids far away to college or leaving home to a unknown journey. We will miss everyone very much! We know what you will order even before you sat down to order, we know you like salt on rice, we know you like to make your own dumpling sauce with lot of chili pepper, we know you want your shrimp peeled in your soup, and many more. We will miss the GT college alumni having their annual dinner, the family that will ask for 10 kimchi, the family that comes with their grandparents, family that comes with their ex wife and husband.
It is hard to make the decision. Especially, my parents that built the restaurant from scratch. From each lantern to dragon and Phoenix design in the ceiling and to the massive plants that some of you might think it’s tacky or “old fashioned” but to us, old fashioned is beauty! We have always strive ourselves with food to be made to order. Even if we have only 2 chefs cooking in the whole kitchen because isn’t good food worth waiting for?!
This is not the end, my brothers (the chef) will hopefully open a mini Yen Jing in the future years. Thank you all for the amazing 31 years! No regrets! Loved every moment!
Now, you got 21 more days! 😂
