today is the public beginning of the class i’m teaching that i’ve developed with . it’s open to you, it’s legit weird and psychedelic and it’s supported by the Mellon Foundation. Obvs usually you wouldn’t be invited because you wouldn’t be in VT but La’Rona let’s us come together. Zoom is in bio. Starts at 2p est goes until 5 for the next 6 weeks.

Russell St. family!

We are, remarkably, hiring. We still produce soup off site and are an essential business.

We have a small but loyal crew that practices social distancing on site, does handwashing 3x and hour and sanitizes every single surface that enters our space, boxes, containers, whatever, and additionally sanitizes every surface twice an hour.

Because we are busier right now we have 2 25/30hr a week positions available starting at $12 an hour.

Update!! If you shared our post from yesterday about continued legal harassment from our landlord:

The landlord has relented FOR THE TIME BEING because and I quote their representative, “um we don’t want a lot of people here, um, yeah.”

We do know that they’ve reached out to former employees pitting black against black and worker against worker.

Well still be there at 130 today with some soup for you to take home if you don’t get this in time! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👊👊🏻👊🏼👊🏽👊🏾👊🏿

We need your help TOMORROW, Thursday October 24th at 1:15 at the deli. We’re not gonna make you move a fridge, promise. We are gonna bring some soup for you to take with you though!

We continue to be aggressively harassed by the landlord. While we continue to use the kitchen, coolers, and ice machine for storage and kitchen as commissary because it’s cheaper than storage and would cost 12/15k to move everything and we don’t want to move it twice because 12/15k the landlord is saying we can’t keep food there further breaking the lease agreement.

We are very close to moving into our forever home! In the meantime any extra expense is keeping us further away from that and now they are harassing us with lawyers trying to break us with legal fees exactly as they originally threatened to do.

WHAT WE NEED:

If you can please show up to the deli at 1:15 tomorrow so we can have people documenting what they say. The meeting is at 1:30 but we’d like to have a short “what to expect“ meeting. This is nothing but an act of witnessing while people who’ve already destroyed middle class jobs continue to harass a business that has done nothing but mind it’s own business and support community.

So community if you can please be there at 1:15 so we can protect ourselves with the power of that community we’d deeply appreciate it! Spread the word! We can’t have too many people.

Position requires all the staples: reliability, good attitude, and a willingness to work and improve! Ability to think on your feet and move in space is critical along with maintaining a clean work space. Capable of moving the occasional heavy object is ideal. Will be working with produce and other consumable foods so mindfulness and cleanliness is critical! We're interested in working hard and as fast as possible.
