DID SHE PLAN THIS FOR WEEKS? STEPMOTHER SHARES FINAL PHONE CALL BEFORE GREAT WOLF LODGE FAMILY TRAGEDY
Y’ALL, NEW DETAILS ARE EMERGING IN THE DISTURBING GREAT WOLF LODGE CASE, AND THE QUESTIONS KEEP PILING UP.
Metallica Rose Harrison, the 27-year-old Pennsylvania mother accused of the deaths of her husband and their 3-year-old son, is at the center of a case that has left her family searching for answers.
Now, her stepmother, April Thetga, is speaking out about their final conversation, the knives reportedly discovered inside the hotel room, and why she believes the circumstances surrounding the family’s extended stay deserve closer examination.
DID THE ALLEGED PLAN BEGIN BEFORE THE FAMILY EVEN ARRIVED AT THE RESORT?
According to reporting by the New York Post, April says she spoke with Metallica over a video call on Sunday, October 11, just one day before authorities discovered the bodies inside a guest room at Great Wolf Lodge in Pennsylvania’s Pocono Mountains.
April reportedly noticed nothing alarming during that conversation.
Metallica appeared to be acting normally. She spoke affectionately with her family and expressed her love for them.
There was nothing about the call that immediately suggested something terrible might be about to happen.
Yet, within hours, the situation would become a devastating tragedy.
Metallica’s husband was Charles Harrison, and their young son was Tristan, a little boy who was only 3 years old.
According to family members, Tristan was a happy child who loved water parks. Relatives understood that the family’s time at Great Wolf Lodge was an opportunity to enjoy those activities and spend time together.
But the circumstances surrounding their stay have now become a major part of the questions being raised.
THE FAMILY HAD BEEN AT THE RESORT FOR WEEKS. WHY?
The family reportedly checked into Great Wolf Lodge on September 21.
On October 5, their reservation was extended through October 13.
That meant what had begun as a family vacation had turned into an approximately three-week stay.
April reportedly found the extended visit unusual, but relatives did not believe anything sinister was happening. They understood that the family was enjoying its time together, particularly because Tristan loved the water park.
Photographs also showed the family spending time together during the trip.
Now, however, April is questioning whether there may have been more to the extended stay than relatives initially understood.
And one particular detail has intensified those concerns.
TWO KNIVES REPORTEDLY FOUND INSIDE THE HOTEL ROOM.
According to the criminal complaint, investigators recovered a large butcher knife and a smaller knife from the bathroom.
Great Wolf Lodge employees reportedly indicated that the knives were not supplied by the resort.
April says she was told the knives had been brought from Metallica’s home.
That information has led her to suspect that the alleged acts may have been planned in advance.
But suspicion and proof are not the same thing.
Investigators would need evidence establishing when the knives were brought to the resort, why they were there, and whether their presence was connected to any alleged plan.
At this stage, the reported discovery raises questions, but it does not independently establish when any alleged intention was formed.
THEN CAME THE 911 CALL ON OCTOBER 12.
According to the criminal complaint, authorities received an emergency call from Great Wolf Lodge at approximately 3:13 p.m.
The caller was identified as Metallica Rose Harrison.
She reportedly told the dispatcher that she needed help because she wanted to die. She also allegedly said that her husband and son were already dead inside the room.
When officers arrived, they encountered a horrifying scene.
Charles Harrison was found dead with multiple stab wounds. Their 3-year-old son was also found dead, with an apparent stab wound.
Metallica was reportedly found with injuries to her wrist and neck and was transported to a hospital.
Court documents also describe statements she allegedly made to emergency responders following the discovery.
According to those records, she repeatedly expressed regret about what had happened and spoke about wanting to be a good mother and wife and having the happy family she had imagined.
But the question of what led to the alleged incident remains unresolved.
DID ANYONE SEE WARNING SIGNS BEFORE THE TRAGEDY?
April reportedly said she had not witnessed signs that made her believe Metallica was experiencing serious mental health difficulties.
From the family’s perspective, the couple appeared loving, and the family seemed happy.
However, what relatives see from the outside does not necessarily reveal everything happening privately. Their observations alone cannot establish Metallica’s mental state or explain the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
There is still much investigators must establish about the events leading up to October 12.
Why did the family extend its reservation?
Why were knives reportedly brought from outside the resort?
Was there evidence of advance planning?
And what happened between the family’s final recorded activities and the emergency call?
These are significant questions, but the answers must come from evidence rather than assumptions.
THE FAMILY’S FINAL RECORDED MOVEMENTS ADD ANOTHER LAYER TO THE CASE.
According to the criminal complaint, surveillance footage showed the family entering their hotel room on Sunday evening.
Later that night, Metallica and Charles reportedly visited the resort’s arcade together before returning to their room.
Those movements were among the last recorded activities described in the complaint before the following day’s discovery.
Consider the contrast: a family spending time at a resort, a young child enjoying a vacation, and relatives receiving photographs and speaking with loved ones.
Then, on the next day, a husband and a little boy were dead.
For the people who knew them, the contrast between those ordinary family moments and the outcome is devastating.
WHAT HAPPENED BEHIND THAT HOTEL ROOM DOOR?
Were there circumstances that relatives knew nothing about?
Did the extended reservation have a significance that investigators have yet to establish?
What will the evidence reveal about the knives reportedly recovered from the room?
And what can investigators determine about the period between the family’s final recorded activities and the 911 call?
These questions remain central to understanding the case.
Metallica Rose Harrison has been charged with two counts of criminal homicide, according to the account provided. She is reportedly being held without bail, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for October 21.
She has not been convicted. The allegations must be addressed through the legal process, and the prosecution must establish its case with evidence.
The Monroe County District Attorney’s Office is reportedly continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
BUT BEYOND THE INVESTIGATION, THERE ARE TWO LIVES THAT CANNOT BE REPLACED.
Charles Harrison was a husband and father.
Tristan was a 3-year-old child with his entire life ahead of him.
He should have been able to leave that resort with memories of swimming, playing, and enjoying a family vacation.
Instead, his loved ones are left mourning both him and his father while trying to comprehend what happened.
April and the rest of the family are reportedly devastated. They want answers about how a trip that appeared to be an ordinary family vacation ended in such a tragedy.
They want to understand what happened, whether any warning signs were missed, and whether the evidence will reveal anything about the events leading up to that day.
Those answers matter, but they must be established through a thorough investigation.
NOW I WANT TO HEAR YOUR THOUGHTS.
Does the report that the knives were allegedly brought from home raise questions for you about possible advance planning?
Do you think investigators should examine the circumstances surrounding the family’s decision to extend its stay?
And what do you make of the reported video call that took place the day before the bodies were discovered?
Let’s discuss the questions raised by the available information while remembering that allegations are not convictions.
Above all, Charles and little Tristan deserved to return home safely.
May they both rest in peace.
