D.O.T.I. Fish Tacos 🐟🌮
Some menu items are just menu items. Others tell a story.
The D.O.T.I. Fish Tacos are a nod to Dock On The Island, a restaurant that played a big role in my journey as a chef. A lot of locals remember D.O.T.I., and these tacos were always one of the favorites. When we opened BIG RED BEACH HUT, I knew they had to be part of the menu.
Today, they’re our top seller on the beach.
It starts with fresh blackened Fish of the Day from Harbor Docks. We take shredded cabbage and toss it with fresh cilantro and our blistered Fresno and key lime vinaigrette to create our signature Coastal RED Slaw. Then we finish it with Big Red Sauce, garlic aioli, fresh pico de gallo, and 2 slices of lime.
Every order comes with a side of our house hot sauce and garlic aioli for dipping. Plus a side of our famous Big Red Fries seasoned with Big Red Spice.
It’s a simple taco, but for me it’s a reminder of where I’ve been, the people who helped shape me as a chef, and why I love cooking on the Gulf Coast.
