BUONGIORNO DENVERONIANS!

This Friday, September 4th, we'll be hanging with our friends Florence Supper Club at their restaurant for a little Pilsner Patio Party!

Some time ago Miles came by the brewery and we brewed a neat Italian Pilsner that we call A NICE ITALIAN BEER. It was brewed with 100% Eraclea malt, an heirloom Italian Barley from the Adriatic Coast (aka east coast) of Italy, and features a lovely mix of Tettnang, Saphire, and Wakatu hops. It is crisp and refreshing, with an assertive enough bitterness to cut through the richness of pasta and meat dishes, while still being light and approachable enough to disappear from your glass rather quickly! For this patio hang, we'll have both draught pours and cans available! This beer is FLYING out of the taproom, so make sure you join us for this event before it's all gone!

Tasca will be on the patio making some delicious sandwiches on fresh bread, and the weather seems quite amicable! So join us on Friday over at Florence Supper Club for an afternoon and early evening of delicious Italian Pilsner, fantastic sandwiches, and all around good vibes!

Now *THAT'S* Italian!

Summer is here for a bit more, Denveronians, so let's squeeze some more fun out of it! Here are some specials we're dropping for that end of summer feeling:

On the bar side:
Our buddies at Wet City Brewing over in Baltimore came up with a neat little 'cocktail' years ago they called a Speghett. This drink has since gained national renown - but we want to make sure y'all know where it came from! (Peter, one of Wet City's owners also helped us design our logo!). They make it with Miller High-Life, Aperol, and lemon juice. We have this really nice Italian Pils on draught, and it felt right to do a lil homage.... So here we are! A NICE ITALIAN BEER, a little hit of fresh squeezed lemon juice, and a dose of Aperol make for a very, very refreshing treat!

On the cafe side:
MORIR SOÑANDO MATCHA. Y'all know Chanti is our resident Dominican Queen, so Gigi took Morir Soñando, a Dominican island take on an orange creamsicle, and uses it as a base for a deliciousssss matcha drink! This one is only available iced, but with plenty of hot days still coming, you'll be happy to have it and keep cool! There's nothing quite like this one around town, so come try some Sabor Dominicano!

Come through, amigos!

Just so you know, you're allowed to drink beer while I'm here working. You don't have to wait until I'm gone and not working to drink it all.

But joke's on you, i was ready for your tricks and I've got a bunch of stuff coming on in the next week!

Happy Friday! Coffee's been flowing, bar starts at noon with something nice and Italian on tap! Ninja Ramen Mobile will be here this evening!

NON-BEER RELATED POST.

when Chanti and I tell people we moved to Denver from NYC, we get asked about pizza. "What's your favorite spot?", "who's got the best pie?"... Things of that nature.

So, we were just back in NYC to confirm that the answers we give to those questions are still correct. So if you're heading to the City at any point soon and want pizza, here are the three spots we advise you to check out (in no particular order, we're not starting fights):

- Luigi's Pizza (Park Slope, Brooklyn). Opened in '72. Perhaps the most classic slice of Brooklyn pizza available? Very satisfying crunchy crust, phenomenal cheese. What your mind envisions when you think 'pizza'. The most old school of the three, and a fantasic relic of a Brooklyn that's slowly fading away.

- Scarr's Pizza (like, kind of Chinatown kind of Lower East Side, Manhattan). Softer, fluffier crust borne from flour they mill themselves. Hits on everything you want from a slice, and feels even a touch elevated. This joint also has a full bar, and you already know how we feel about pizza and beer.

- L'industrie (Williamsburg, Brooklyn). The newest spot of the three. Beautiful big slices, crust falls between the two other spots... Soft, but with a satisfying crunch as well. Good selection of options for slices, place is always full. Feels the most 'fancy' of the three, but still a no bullsh!t slice of pizza you'll enjoy to the last bite.

Ok, that's it. Dont @ me, I'm sure if you're from the City you got your other spots, and I'm sure their pizza is great. A lot of NYC pizza is great. These are the spots we'd return to each time.

Ok, next post will be back to beer! See ya!

Autumn is coming (supposedly), and we can't be more excited for those perfect fall days that start with crisp mornings and go into sunny, pleasant afternoons, and cool evenings! To celebrate, we're throwing a big block party on Saturday 9/26! We'll have food, games, live music, the Baker Neighborhood Association is throwing a co****le competition, and it's all going to be pretty, pretty neat. Mark your calendars and tell your friends, and we'll see you on the block!

From the archives.....

Chanti scoring some second floor samples sometime in 2019. We were just babies at around 1 year of business at this point. A certain global event you may recall would happen a few months after this and would sort-of forever change all of us- but we had no idea at this point. In 2019 it was us and our budding beer dreams....

Today marks 5 years of Gigi working here at ye Olde Novel Strand!

Gigi came from the Floridas and flexed her coffee muscles for a bit here in Denvertown before joining us back in 7/30/2021. Since then she's gone from pouring beers to being the taproom manager, to helping us start our coffee program, to coming up with the recipes for nearly all of the yummy cocktails we make you now! She's made Chanti's life and my life a lotttttt easier, and she's helped make this taproom what it is today!

She's the ferrari of the espresso martini, the Lamborghini of the latte, the Porsche of pilsners, and a true floridian ghoul haunting around Denver- as she likes to say!

Wherever ye find yerself today, go on ahead and raise a toast to ye olde Gigi- especially if it's here in the taproom!

The weekend is here, Denveronians!Let's grab a drink(s), relax, and smile! It's good for you!See you soon amigos!
