Samuels Community Garden

Samuels Community Garden We strive to make our community garden a gathering place providing nutritional education for all You can volunteer just once, or on a regular basis.

Samuels Community Garden is a school-based community garden affiliated with Denver Urban Gardens. We have about 40 families from the school and surrounding community, who come together to garden, grow food, teach the kids and enjoy nature. We run Garden Club and the Garden-to-Cafeteria program with Samuels Elementary School. During harvest season we donate fresh produce from the garden to the Jewi

sh Family Service food bank. Volunteer jobs vary depending on the needs of the season, but there are opportunities year-round. We try to match jobs to our volunteer's abilities and interests. There are light work tasks and heavy work tasks, suitable for adults, kids, families, students and seniors. Regular opportunities include:
Monday Night Harvest
Compost Saturdays

For volunteer opportunities tailored to you or your group, please contact us! Monday Night Harvest
Join us on Mondays from 6-8pm to harvest produce for donation to Jewish Family Service food bank. We collect produce, wash as needed at our outdoor sink and prep area, bag and weigh for our records. In past years we have donated over 400 pounds of produce in one season! Compost Saturdays
Join us every other Saturday morning from 9-10:30 am, June 12 through October 30, to learn about composting with our resident Master Composter. You'll get hands on experience working a compost pile. We'll be chopping up the organic matter, adding greens and browns as needed, turning and watering the piles, and sifting out the finished compost. Everyone is welcome! NOTE: As the summer progresses, we may get started earlier to avoid the heat. Samuel’s Elementary now has a Food Forest! 🌲🌳 See what it’s all about below:

The Food Forest is a project that is meant to engage community interaction, while producing food for the community to share. It is a great way for the community to learn, interact, and enjoy the great outdoors.

Creating a Food Forest helps to reduce our resource usage through eliminating turf grass and enriching our world through the planting of trees. It also creates a new, more diverse and sustainable eco-system.

Want to help grow our Food Forest? DM us for more info! 🪴
