Some nights, escape looks like a Mai Tai.

Sometimes it’s a table full of food, a room full of people you love, and a few hours where the rest of the world can wait.

That’s what Adrift has always been about.

These are our regulars. Our first-timers. Our crew. Friends who became family. People laughing, eating, drinking, celebrating -- escaping together.

And in a world that could use a little more of that right now, tomorrow’s Reel Escape Wednesday feels especially fitting.

We’re showing Moana for out last Reel Escape adventure of the season.

Call it a kids’ movie if you want. Beneath the Disney of it all is a story inspired by the cultures and voyaging traditions of the Pacific Islands-- about our relationship with the ocean, our ancestors, our communities, and remembering who we are when we’ve lost our way.

Those ideas mean something to us.

Tiki owes an enormous debt to Polynesia and the broader Pacific. While Adrift is ultimately a fantasy and a place of escape, we believe that escape is better when there’s curiosity, respect, and appreciation for the cultures that inspired it.

So tomorrow night, come sail away with us.

Grab a tiki drink. Eat something delicious. Bring your people. Forget about reality for a couple hours.

Moana. Reel Escape Wednesday. Tomorrow night at Adrift.

The world will still be there when the credits roll.

For a little while, let’s go beyond the reef. 🌊

Happy National Mai Tai Day.

Today, Vincent R M Polizzi took a sold-out Tiki Time deep into one of the most important cocktails ever poured.

And today wasn’t just about rum, lime, orgeat and curaçao.

It was also about mint. Apparently. We have been warned.

But more than anything, Vince immersed us in something genuine today.

History. Escapism. Creativity. Hospitality. And respect for a cocktail that doesn’t need us to reinvent it to remain relevant.

We went back to the source. We respected the ingredients. The technique. The people and places that came before us. And the cocktail that helped pave the way for so much of what we love about tiki today.

Because sometimes honoring a classic isn’t about asking what you can add to it.

It’s knowing what not to f**k with.

Today, we got Adrift.

We packed the house, raised some Mai Tais, honored the OG, learned a hell of a lot, and escaped together for a little while.

A huge mahalo to Trader Vince for taking us on the journey -- and to Holmes Cay Rum for supporting Tiki Time and helping us celebrate Mai Tai Day alongside rum lovers across the country.

And most importantly, aloha to our Adrift ‘ohana who SOLD THIS THING OUT and continue to show up for this wonderfully weird little world we get to create together.

Happy Mai Tai Day.

And stay tuned…

We have a BIG announcement coming this week.

(And yes, Vince. There will be mint.)

MAI TAI WEEK 2026 SPOTLIGHT: THE FROZEN MAI TAI

The Mai Tai might be the ultimate resort drink. But for decades, it’s suffered from one critical disadvantage:

The Piña Colada is frozen.

Inspired by the frozen Mai Tai at the Tommy Bahama Marlin Bar Tommy Bahama and Derek from Derek take on it, we knew exactly what we wanted to do when a shiny new frozen drink machine landed behind the Adrift bar.

Take the bones of a proper Mai Tai, put our own spin on it, and freeze the whole damn thing.

The result? All the rum, lime, orange curaçao and orgeat goodness you expect from a Mai Tai, now in glorious frozen form.

No longer must you choose between the Mai Tai and the frozen drink.

This is the absolute pinnacle of resort drink technology.

Available during Mai Tai Week at Adrift.

MAI TAI WEEK 2026 SPOTLIGHT: THE LUXURY MAI TAI

This isn't simply an expensive Mai Tai. It's our tribute to the Mai Tai Denver was drinking more than 70 years ago.

In 1954, Trader Vic's Outrigger Bar brought the Mai Tai to Denver, made with Jamaican rum aged at least 15 years in the tropical heat—and distilled entirely in pot stills.

So, what's a pot still?

It's one of the oldest methods of making rum: distilled one batch at a time rather than continuously through a modern column still. Pot-still rums tend to be richer, heavier and packed with the deep, funky character Jamaican rum is famous for.

To authentically honor that 1954 Mai Tai, we went looking for something extraordinary: rum from the same Jamaican distillery, 100% pot still, aged at least 15 years.

We found it.

Appleton Hearts Collection 2002 — 20 Year Old Pot Still Jamaican Rum.

An exceptionally rare release and the foundation of our Luxury Mai Tai.

From there, every ingredient had to earn its place.

The lime is hand-pressed to order, eliminating the oxidation that begins as soon as citrus is juiced. The crystal-clear orgeat was created by renowned orgeat expert Adam Kolesar to emulate the style used in the 1950s. The orange liqueur is a blend of two remarkable expressions from France and Martinique—the latter hasn't been produced in years.

Even the ice is intentional: exactly four 1-inch cubes, creating the dilution and aeration needed to let a rum of this caliber shine.

It's finished as Trader Vic depicted it: mint, a spent lime shell and his classic pineapple-and-cherry “fruit stick.”

And one final touch: a golden cocktail pick that's yours to keep.

A small souvenir from a Mai Tai designed to disappear slowly.

The Luxury Mai Tai.

A little Denver history, one very rare bottle of rum, and our deepest dive into the cocktail we love most.

MAI TAI WEEK 2026 SPOTLIGHT: THE ADRIFT STANDARD

Born in Oakland, California in 1944, Trader Vic created the Mai Tai around a remarkable aged Jamaican rum. His philosophy was simple: rum that good wasn’t meant to be overpowered-- it was meant to shine.

Our Adrift Standard Mai Tai honors that philosophy.

Rum-forward. Robust. Uncompromising. Nostalgic.

It’s built to taste the way we remember midcentury drinking: great rum, fresh lime, orange curaçao and orgeat working together instead of fighting for attention.

Before we start sailing the Mai Tai into some new waters this week, we’re starting with its DNA.

The Adrift Standard. The backbone of our bar and our love letter to the Mai Tai.

Happy Mai Tai Week!

08/24/2026

A brief history lesson before Mai Tai Week.

The Mai Tai was born in 1944 when Trader Vic mixed Jamaican rum, fresh lime, orange curaçao, orgeat and a touch of sugar.

The story goes that his first taste-testers, friends visiting from Tahiti, took one sip and exclaimed:

“Maita’i roa ae!”
Translation: Out of this world. The best.

And one of the greatest cocktails of all time was born.

Again, the original had:

Rum. Lime. Curaçao. Orgeat. Sugar.

No pineapple juice.
No orange juice.
And absolutely no grenadine.

Now, before you call us out for being Mai Tai purists while looking at this year's Mai Tai Week menu...

Fair. 🤪

We're not exactly coloring inside the lines either.

But we know the Mai Tai's DNA — and then deliberately sail that m**o into new waters. ⛵️

That's Mai Tai Week.

We start with the bones of a legendary cocktail. We respect the rum, the balance and the history. Then we explore just how far this classic can travel while still remembering where it came from.

Because at Adrift, the Mai Tai isn't just another cocktail.

It's the sail on the damn ship.

🌺 MAI TAI WEEK • AUGUST 25–30 🌺

We're raising the sail. Come see where it takes us.

There are Mai Tais.

And then there are MAI TAIS 🗣

MAI TAI WEEK returns to Adrift August 25–30, and we’re going all the way down the rum-soaked rabbit hole.

Five ways to Mai Tai:

🍹 THE STANDARD — Our flagship. Big Jamaican + Guyanese rum, lime, orgeat and curaçao. The classic that never misses.

🔥 THE ULTIMATE — Appleton 15. Smith & Cross. Planteray OFTD. Xaymaca. A straight-up love letter to one of the greatest cocktails ever created.

🥶 THE FROZEN — Paradise went through a blender. Enough said.

🌴 THE ZERO-PROOF — All the tropical glory. None of the booze.

👑 THE LUXURY — Now s**t gets serious.

Appleton Hearts 2002. Twenty-year pot still Jamaican rum. Latitude 29 Orgeat. Grand Marnier Cuvée. Hamilton Orange Shrubb. Served with a gold cocktail pick that's yours to keep.

And here's the coolest part:

The Luxury is our faithful recreation of the Mai Tai served right here in Denver at the legendary Outrigger Bar in 1954.

72 years later, we're pouring it again.

Five Mai Tais. Six nights. One tiny tropical bar on South Broadway.

Cancel your flight.

ADULT SPELLING BEE IS BACK THIS THURSDAY. 🐝

Come prove that autocorrect has absolutely destroyed your ability to spell in public.

Grab a cocktail. Get a little too confident. Step up to the mic. Ask for the word in a sentence six times. Spell something wildly incorrect. Blame the rum.

🏆 Glory awaits the last nerd standing.

Adult Spelling Bee — THIS THURSDAY at Adrift at 7:00PM.

Come early. Drink tropical. Spell irresponsibly.

BARTENDER HIGHLIGHT: CJ 🌴

Four years ago, CJ started slinging Mai Tais behind the bar at Adrift.

His favorite cocktail after all that time?

Still a Mai Tai.

We raised him right.

CJ originally made his way from Connecticut to Colorado to chase a much bigger dream: music. And when he’s not behind our bar, you might know him better as Lowcation — a Denver-based experimental bass producer blending heavy low-end with organic, atmospheric sounds.

And, uh… turns out our bartender is getting pretty damn good at this music thing.

Lowcation now has 67,000+ monthly listeners on Spotify, hundreds of thousands of streams on individual tracks, and a growing following well beyond our little island on South Broadway.

So yes, CJ can make you a killer Mai Tai.

But we're also starting to think there may come a day when we get to annoyingly tell everyone:

“Oh, Lowcation? Yeah. He used to bartend for us.”

Go give Lowcation a follow, listen to his music, and help us make him famous.

Just not too famous.

We still need someone to work Saturday night. 🍹
