Okay, El Diablo followers and fans – here we go again…

But this time, this is it!

Yes, even though we’re sure that no one could have missed the fact that the runoff election for Denver’s [hopefully new!] Mayor is happening right now, we decided we’d better post again just to remind everyone that this is one of the most important elections in our city in the last several decades...

And now, IT’S TIME TO VOTE!!!

Seriously, election night is just ONE WEEK from yesterday! And in Denver, elections are determined by whichever candidate receives 50% of the vote, plus one. That’s plus just ONE vote, which means that every vote – yes, EVERY VOTE – matters!

One week. One Vote. Let’s go!

For our part, despite all the noise ginned up by that other guy, we still support Jamie Giellis for Mayor for a whole bunch of reasons…

First, DENVER NEEDS A CHANGE! Plus, Jamie Giellis has our city and all of us who live and work here’s best interests in mind, not her own, and we believe that she is the candidate most interested in helping Denver to recover from the damage that’s been done to it over the last eight years...

So, VOTE! There are only six days left, so get your ballot filled out and returned ASAP!

(Just a reminder, this is what the ballot looks like that you received in the mail in the last week or two… it’s not junk mail, so don’t throw it away!)

Voter turnout in Denver elections is pathetically low (and they say young people don’t vote) – let’s change that this time around and get this done!

Hey, El Diablo followers and fans! Long time no “see”!

We know that most of you keep track of this page to see if (or when) there might be a return of El Diablo Restaurant, but this post (unfortunately) isn’t to bring that happy news… [yet]. Instead, Team Diablo decided to post this week with a public service announcement.

In short… IT’S TIME TO VOTE!!!

Yes, there’s an election happening in Denver right now; and in our humble opinion, it’s one of the most important elections in our city in the last several decades. Usually, voter turnout in Denver elections is pathetically low (oh, and they say young people don’t vote). Let’s try to change that this time around!

Okay, here we go.

First -- in case you didn’t know, this is what the ballot looks like that you received in the mail in the last week or two. It’s not junk mail, so don’t throw it away!

Next, the ballot is short but there’s an IMPORTANT vote happening – probably the most important – which is the race for Mayor. For our part, we support Jamie Giellis for Mayor for a whole bunch of reasons, but we’ll leave you with just a couple of them…

Reason number one: there’s little doubt that Jamie is the candidate with the best chance of winning against you-know-who, so that’s good – DENVER NEEDS A CHANGE!

Reason number two: in addition to her being the candidate with the best chance of winning, she is also (conveniently) the best candidate! Jamie Giellis has the city and all of us who live and work here’s best interests in mind, not her own, and we believe that she is the candidate most interested in helping Denver to recover from the damage that’s been done to it over the last eight years...

ROCKBAR RESURRECTION?

Since Rockbar's closure in October of 2012, we have been approached time and time again about reopening the business, primarily by people who live near the Rockbar or traveled to come to it, and by the owners of nearby businesses. All of these individuals and businesses have told us that they would like very much to see Rockbar "resurrected". As a result of this we are considering a reopening, and possibly a relocation, and would value your input.

Everyone's feedback is important -- let's see if we can get this thing open again (or if we even should).

It is with heavy hearts that we are announcing that tonight, May 2, will be El Diablo and Sketch Food & Wine's last day of business.

This closure has nothing to do with the restaurants themselves, we have been operating safely and successfully for over 4 years. Morreale Hotels, the owner of the building, and the restaurants simply can no longer contend with what we believe has been a predetermined course by the City of Denver since July 2012 to see that the building be closed and these great restaurants be put out of business. Even though we believe it is unquestionable that the City's actions have been arbitrary and capricious, the damage that has been inflicted upon our resources and operations is too severe for us to recover from and we have no choice but to close.

We are heartbroken at this turn of events and the cost, not just to the businesses and to the community surrounding them, but to our loyal and hard-working staff that will be losing their jobs as a result.

We'd like to thank you all for the years of loyal support and patronage, and invite you to join us tonight to say goodbye to the restaurants we all love that have contributed so much to the revitalization of Broadway and were the anchor for helping to restore the once blighted 1st Ave Hotel.

We want to extend our heartfelt hanks to each and every one of you for the great memories -- we will miss you all!
