CAFE BRAZIL

CAFE BRAZIL Cafe Brazil is a small colorful South American inspired restaurant now in it's 31st year. Bonus points for the new rum bar.

We are a small, colorful restaurant in North Denver, serving a fanfare of Latin American cuisine. For years, we have been the go-to spot for Denverites looking for a taste of South America. Unlike most of the Brazilian restaurants in this country, it isn't a churrascaria -- but rather a proper Brazilian (and Latin American) restaurant that offers all the greatest hits of a canon that spans several

countries. Family owned and operated, Cafe Brazil highlights dishes from northern Brazil and specialties from the coasts of Colombia, Argentina, and Chile. Our menu is a wonderful combination of seafood with items including accents of coconut milk, chili oil, spices and more. With our fairly abundant portions and South American wines, diners find our Novo Latino restaurant a breath of fresh air and a great taste of Latin America. We make it a point to mix many different influences from the Mediterranean basin- including Spain, Portugal, Italy, and even North Africa, Turkey, Morroco, and Greece- with traditional techniques and blend them with new world foods. If you're looking for a taste of Latin America, dine with us at Cafe Brazil. The space is casual and often crowded, the service friendly, and the food stands as a good survey of all the influences (Spanish, Italian, French and indigenous) that have made South American cuisine one of the most interesting ethnic culinary diversions to come along.

As we approach the New Year and reaching 1 year since Cafe Brazils last service and closure we would like to thank one and all who gave us so much support and love over our 32 year history. Our life in the restaurant was always about the food and the people whom we miss dearly, but also the warmth of the kitchen which gave birth to so many special moments. Wishing everyone a good 2026. Health and happiness.

I have always said !
"Opening a restaurant is hard, running a restaurant harder still, but closing or losing a restaurant is by far the hardest"
In these weeks since our closing, navigating the loss and obstacles required to deal with has been a daily battle.
Hard to imagine or understand unless you have been there or lived thru it.
The energy and life the restaurant brought us each day has ceased to greet us each morning.
The joy, warmth and creativity the ovens ignited in us at the beginning of the day as we walked into a clean and spotless kitchen is at rest.
The greeting of the staff with a smile as they slowly arrived late afternoon to give their best to Cafe Brazil is missed. The welcoming and happy guests that walked thru the front doors of this little flight of imagination are now gone.

A small note:
To everyone that called

To every single message left

To everyone that was able to come in

To those we could not respond to

To everyone that I was not able to thank, hug and say goodbye

The love you showed us in these closing days has brought a tidal wave of emotion gratitude and validation.

Thank you one and all for reaching out in the most difficult of times.

Apologies to those of you we simply could not serve.
Your love for Cafe Brazil was well noted

PRESS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Denver, Colorado — December 2024

A Farewell or a New Beginning for Café Brazil?

For over three decades, Café Brazil has been more than just a restaurant. It has been a second home for its cherished guests, a canvas for culinary imagination, and a vibrant piece of Denver’s cultural fabric. Today, with a heavy heart, we share that Café Brazil’s future is uncertain as our lease will not be renewed as of January 1, 2025.

A Challenging Year
The past year has been grueling. Like many in the restaurant industry, we faced a brutal decline in business, escalating costs for products and labor, and an inability to make ends meet. The challenges of 2024 have left an indelible mark, exacerbated by the lingering impact of the pandemic, which many local restaurants never fully recovered from.

Throughout this, we remained steadfast in our commitment to offering high-quality, accessible dining experiences, refusing to pass rising costs onto our loyal patrons. However, the pressures have become insurmountable.

A Personal Note from Chef Tony
This journey has been one of heart and persistence, spanning 32 years. Café Brazil’s recent recognition as a legacy business by the City and County of Denver is a testament to the love and dedication we’ve poured into this space.

For many of you, this restaurant is more than a place to dine—it’s a community where you are known by name, where stories are shared, and where memories are made. To those who have been with us through every high and low, you are the heartbeat of Café Brazil.

Marla and I have faced personal and professional challenges over the years, including her ongoing health struggles, which have made this journey even more complex. Yet, your unwavering support has been a source of strength for us both.

The Road Ahead
While the Café Brazil you know and love may not continue in the same form, the spirit of this space and its story may yet live on in a new chapter. We hold onto the hope that somehow, in some way, Café Brazil’s legacy will endure.

We extend our deepest gratitude to every guest, staff member, and partner who has been part of this extraordinary journey. Your loyalty and kindness have meant the world to us.

Thank you for being part of our family.

With love and gratitude,
Chef Tony
