Hey everyone it’s Dawn Jarock, Sonny’s wife. I wanted to send a message out to anyone and everyone who ever stepped foot into our family’s stand. There are so many memories made there that I cherish so deeply. I’ll never forget our girls Ruby, Ryder, and Chloe pressing their handprints into the cement outback, our beloved dog Milo skateboarding in the parking lot in the summers, or perfecting our Italian beef recipe with Myra. I’ll never forget when you turned to me with your bright smile and said, “Smells like home doesn’t it Dawny?” I’ll never forget Sage flipping a sign dressed as a hot dog on national hot dog day, or my dad heading straight for the stand when he got into Denver from Chicago. I remember Sonny teaching Chloe how to make her first Chicago dog while Ruby scootered through the restaurant when she was little. So many memories, and so much lost. Sonny poured his heart and soul into this stand, and that’s because it meant so much to him. You all meant so much to him. Sonny took so much time getting to know the regulars and people just stopping by alike. While I’m sure it was the best place to grab a Chicago dog, Windy City sub, or Italian beef for a lot of you, it was that and so much more to our family. He put so much passion and work into making a place so special for all of you; a taste of our hometown. I can still picture him standing proudly at the register with his paper hat on with a smile on his face and heart on his sleeve. It truly was a special red stand on the corner of Santa Fe and 3rd. Sonny, I’m so eternally grateful for your bright energy, the sense of community you created, and the fantastic person that you were. We’re so eternally grateful for all of it, and we’ll miss you forever. Thank you to everyone who believed in Sonny’s dream: to make the best Chicago dog in Denver, and to make people smile.
Love, Dawn
