Seven Years. Seven summers. That’s how long we’ve had the absolute privilege of calling the Doghouse home. And what an incredible ride it’s been.
Looking back at all of our social posts—the laughter, the crazy hot dog suit, all the wonderful dogs that visited and got free DogDogs, the exhausted-but-happy moments working side by side in that hot kitchen, music playing—working with our children and adopting so many more-it all floods back. The early mornings prepping for the rush. The wild summer nights when the line stretched out to lower county road. The seven day-16 hour-a-day weeks. The frosé spills, the perfectly grilled dogs, the memories we never wanted to end.
But the truth is, the Doghouse was never really about the hot dogs (though let’s be real, they’re pretty legendary). It was always about the people.
We’ve had the honor of coaching, leading, and working alongside some of the most incredible young adults you could ever meet. Kids who showed up nervous on their first day and left as leaders. Young people who learned what it means to hustle, to care, to show up for each other when things got crazy. To be passionate. To be genuine. To be hardworking. And to never be afraid to be great.
You know who you are. And we are so damn proud of you.
You’re going to go on to do amazing things. We’ve watched you grow, watched you discover your strength, watched you realize what you’re capable of. Take that with you. The grit, the teamwork, the ability to smile through the chaos—those lessons will serve you forever.
As for us? It’s time for us to enjoy each other with the time we have left. This decision wasn’t easy, but sometimes life tells you it’s time. The Doghouse will always be a piece of our hearts—every American flag, every umbrella table, every single order called out on a busy Saturday night. We accomplished some unbelievable things. Effort—it’s a thing, like for real. Hard work beats talent 12 out of 10 times. NEVER FORGET! But we couldn’t have done it without all of you, our unbelievably awesome staff. We love you guys❤️
To our awesome Doghouse fans and customers who became friends, to the families who made us part of their summer traditions and this wonderful community, to everyone who ever ordered a West Dennis Dog, a Dennisport Fry, a Truffle Tot or grabbed a frosé on a hot Cape day—thank you. You made this journey unforgettable.
We’re not saying goodbye to the memories. Those are ours to keep forever.
With love, gratitude, and a full heart,
Libby & Michael 🐾
