--Are bison and buffalo the same?
While both are in the bovidae family, bison are more closely related to cattle. Buffalo are more closely related to antelope. Bison and cattle have horns that are round in cross section. True buffalos, like Asian water buffalo (which Carrell Farms raises) and African Cape buffalo have horns that are triangular in cross section.
--What are some health benefits of Carrell Farms grass-fed water buffalo?
Being grass-fed, the meat is high in the sought after Omega 3 fatty acids and the fat soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K. Buffalo meat is higher in protein and lower in fat than beef. Buffalo meat offers a higher mineral content than beef. Water buffalo liver contains twice the iron as beef liver.
