Sea Turtle Nesting Season is upon us here in Central Florida! What does this mean?
It means that we need to take extra caution when exploring our shores for tracks and nesting sites as to not disturb these beautiful creatures during their arduous treks, both as adults and hatchlings.
Red light only should be used at night and turtles should not be disturbed during their journey.
If you are concerned for the wellbeing of an adult or hatchling, please reach out to the local wildlife authorities and they can give more direction on the next steps.
I have always loved working hands on in conservation efforts and with wildlife, and getting the opportunity to make special treats for Turtle Day participants was so much fun!
So remember, we need to share this planet and take care of each other, whether they have legs or flippers, scales or feathers. Be kind, respectful, and make someone’s day a little sweeter! 🐢💙🍪
