๐ ONE YEAR OF PACE FAMILY PIZZA! ๐
And weโre celebrating with a GIVEAWAY! ๐
One year ago, we took a pretty wild chance.
For years, whenever Rich made pizza at home for family and friends, everyone would say the same thing:
โRich, you need to sell this.โ
Soโฆ we did. ๐
Debb was 7 months pregnant, we both had full-time jobs, and we decided this was somehow the perfect time to start selling homemade pizza out of our garage.
No pizza shop. No commercial kitchen. Just a few grills, dough and sauce made from scratch, and Rich making the pizza he had been making for our family and friends for years.
Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, our driveway turned into a little underground pizza shop. ๐๐
And you guys SHOWED UP.
We went from making pizzas for people we knew to having people we had never met pulling into our driveway. Neighbors became customers. Old friends from the neighborhood started showing up. People came to pick up pizzas carrying baby gifts and gift cards for us.
Debb was waddling around cutting pizzas 9 months pregnantโฆ and somehow made her return to the โpizza shopโ about TWO DAYS POSTPARTUM. ๐คฃ
Looking back, we were absolutely insane.
But something really special was happening.
We were making 50โ70 pizzas out of our house on every day we cooked. We met so many amazing people and, not to toot our own hornโฆ
Pace Family Pizza became the talk of the town. ๐๐
Eventually, the talk got a little too loud and after about three months, we had to shut it down.
We were devastated.
We had built something we knew people wanted, but we had no idea what came next.
So we disappeared for about three months and tried to figure it out.
Then someone took a chance on us.

She invited us to collaborate with her for Pied Outโs 5-year anniversary over Valentineโs Day weekend.

It was a COMPLETE DISASTER.
The oven wasnโt cooperating. The pizzas werenโt cooking the way Rich knew they should. We ended up canceling almost every order, refunding everyone, personally apologizing to customers, and wanting to crawl under a rock.
We thought we blew it.
But apparentlyโฆ
ONE pizza made it out alive. ๐
And somehow, that pizza ended up in the hands of Commander Bill from VFW Post 3020 in Delran.
Later, we got a message from the VFW.
Our hearts DROPPED.
We thought, Oh God. Here it comes. Theyโre going to tell us how terrible that pizza was.
Instead, the message basically said:
โHey, we loved your pizza. Would you ever want to come cook at the VFW?โ

Was this dude playing a sick joke on us?!
But he wasnโt.
Someone else took a wild chance on Pace Family Pizza.
And weโve been making pizzas at the VFW ever since. โค๏ธ๐
One year later, we still canโt believe where this little garage pizza operation has taken us.
The coolest part isnโt how many pizzas weโve made.
Itโs the people weโve met because of them.
So many of you who pulled into our driveway that first year are STILL ordering from us today. Almost everyone who has tried our pizza has come back again and we donโt take that lightly.
You guys have watched us figure this thing out in real time.
As most of you know, we both still have day jobs at Lockheed Martin and Penn Medicine. Weโre raising three little kids. Weโre working, parenting, prepping, making dough, slicing cheese, making sauce, taking orders, cooking pizzas, cleaning upโฆand then waking up and doing it all over again.
There isnโt much downtime around here. ๐
But we know you see us working our asses off.
And that means more to us than you probably realize.
Every order.
Every share.
Every comment.
Every person who tells a friend about our pizza.
Every person who has followed us from the garage to the VFW.
YOU helped build Pace Family Pizza.
