Since 1864, Bun's Restaurant has been serving residents and visitors in Delaware, Ohio. Whether you come back for a traditional favorite or try something new, we hope you will enjoy your experience. Located in the Historic District of Delaware, Ohio, Bun's has been a part of family traditions for generations. Stop in with friends or family for lunch, dinner or cocktails. In 1863 George Frederick H

offman came to Delaware and opened and operated a bake shop. In 1889 George Frederick was joined by George Julius. In 1913, George Klee, also known as "Bun" came to Delaware and joined his father's business. In 1923 the first dining room was opened. It was not until 1927 did the former bakery which put "Buns" on the map move to the location. Buns restaurant was beginning to be expand. Many changes brought Buns Restaurant to what it is today. Hoffman operated the business until 1991. In 1991 he sold the oldest running business in the state of Ohio. Susan Beavers became the proud owner. In January 1998 Buns Restaurant was once again sold. Peter Manos ,Esq., purchased the historic building and Vasili Konstantinidis bought the restaurant business. Manos was a local attorney who after two years of owning the historic building, sold the building to me, Vasili Konstantinidis. Many may remember that the historic building, as beautiful as it was needed some renovations. The first major remodeling that occurred to the building since the Hoffman family owned it, was to the bathrooms. The men's room was brought up from the basement and the ladies room, was brought out from the back. The new renovation was happily received by all. I came over from Greece in 1975, along with my family members I have worked in the restaurant business for many years. I was a server, a cook and became a manager. I have been in this business for 30 years. I was proud to be the owner and operator of a historic business. The community welcomed me and the changes to Buns with excitement. Unfortunately, things changed on one very cold morning. Monday, March 4, 2002 changed the entire history of Buns Restaurant. In the early hours of the morning the restaurant along with the bakery burnt to the ground. That was the day that the oldest running business in the state of Ohio was unable to operate. The fire was devastating. The Delaware community who supported me since I came to Buns Restaurant continued to support. I received wonderful letters from students at the elementary schools. I received letters from former OWU students who live out of state. I Received letters of prayers and telling me not to give up. I always knew that I made the right move when I came to Delaware, but it was solidified from the outpouring of support and love the community had for Buns Restaurant and to me and my family. It was a long hard road but in January, 2004 Buns Restaurant reopened. I never thought of moving the restaurant to another location so what was home to Rutherfords Bookstore now became the new Buns Restaurant. Due to the small space there was no room to include a bakery. We were able to maintain the cutout cookies and the fudge cake. Today, Buns has included a four seasons room that is utilized in the winter. When spring arrives the glass doors go up and the patio is filled with tables and umbrellas. Many changes have occurred to Buns Restaurant, but what remains is that Buns Restaurant is here in Historic Downtown Delaware and is serving the community today and always.

After 25 years of happily owning and operating Bun’s Restaurant, it is with a heavy heart I am announcing my retirement. This is a bittersweet moment for me and my Bun’s Family who have been an integral part of my professional and social career. I will always cherish the memories and friendships I have made here for many years to come.

Bun’s and the city of Delaware have a special place in my heart. Being a part of history, as Bun’s Restaurant is a landmark in the state of Ohio, I have always tried to bring the upmost respect in regards to this. I want to kindly thank everyone in this community for their continuous support and as we welcome the new owners, Brian Voss and Joe Fischbach, I am assured the support will continue. They are a great fit and extremely knowledgeable about the hospitality industry and I look forward to seeing what they will add to the restaurant. We will always be here to support them fully and I am confident that the legacy of Bun’s Restaurant will live on through their inevitable success!
