October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month as designiated by the US Dept. of Labor, and this year’s theme is “Celebrating and Valuing Talent.”

The Landing celebrates this every day through Tandem, which stocks and sells to-go items and sweet treats. Tandem’s team members, many of whom are differently abled, work hard, deliver excellent service, and spread joy. They are often assisted by staff from The Spectrum Network. This collaborative approach results in meaningful employment, a stronger team at The Landing, and a richer community.

Thank you, Tandem team members!

Jennifer Fisher Jones, owner of Mystic Sundog in Decorah, and son Adam Jones, a Luther College senior and a team member at The Landing, recently installed at their collaborative painting at The Landing.

Inspired by the Bryggen in Bergen, Norway, the two-panel mural also includes a touch of whimsy. Next time you’re in, see what you can spot hiding along the wharf.

Thanks, Jennifer and Adam!
