The internet allows folk to embellish their stories. Everyone loves a good story on the internet, doesn't have to be true, and once you've heard the lady at the front don't take no mess, you have to show her that you dont take no mess either! 🤣

This interaction left her in such a bad mood that she was secretly taking unflattering photos of my staff to post in her review. She was mad she couldn't order a drink. She was mad that I advised her of my moist floor because it was extremely humid inside with wet floor signs around. She was mad about her cousin's food that I removed from her cousin's tab and had thr kitchen refire. She was that we didn't have a knife for her to cut her burger, because my delivery of more plastic knives hadn't arrived yet. She was mad at the way I spoke to my staff.

Now both her and her cousin are on the no fly list. You had a 2 star experience because you chose to be a 2 star customer. We have got to stop being this way.

Meet Tupac Marshall, Front of House Lead at Che Butter Jonez.

Hospitality has always meant more to Pac than simply providing good service. To him, the best dining experiences happen when great food is matched by genuine human connection.

With years of professional hospitality experience in some of Atlanta’s highest-volume environments, Pac brings a strong foundation in guest service, leadership and communication.

But his approach to hospitality is distinctly his own.

Pac believes a restaurant should be somewhere you can laugh. Somewhere the staff remembers you. Somewhere conversation comes naturally, personalities are allowed to shine, and you leave feeling like you experienced something, not like you simply bought a meal.

As the son of founders Malik Rhasaan and Detric Fox-Quinlan, Che Butter Jonez has always been personal to him. Now, as Front of House Lead, Pac gets to bring his own personality, experience and standard of hospitality to what his family has built.

His goal is simple: make the front of house every bit as memorable as the food coming out of the kitchen.

So if you come to CBJ and hear somebody laughing from across the restaurant, there’s a pretty good chance Pac had something to do with it.

Everybody meet Nigel.

Nigel is the newest addition to Che Butter Jonez, coming to us from Kentucky with 12+ years behind the bar.

His motto is, “We’re here for a good time, not a long time.”

Yeah. He’ll fit in just fine. 😂

One thing we’ve always wanted is for our bar to feel like a BAR. Sit down. Have a drink. Talk. Laugh. Meet somebody. Stay longer than you planned to.

Nigel gets that.

We’re excited to have him behind the bar and even more excited for y’all to get to know him.

Che Butter Jonez is rooted in Queens.

That’s Chef. That’s the food. That’s the attitude. And while I never forget my Jersey roots, Atlanta is where we chose to build a life and eventually, build Che Butter Jonez.

And that’s allowed.

Being a transplant doesn’t take anything away from a city.

It enhances it.

Cities have always been shaped by people who arrived carrying something with them. Food. Music. Language. Traditions. Ideas. Hustle. A different way of seeing things.

We moved here to build a life in a new city. We brought pieces of home with us because that’s what people do.

We didn’t have to become something different when we got here.

Chef can still be Queens.
I can still be Jersey.
And Atlanta can still be home.

You don’t have to be born somewhere to love it.
You don’t have to be from somewhere to pour into it.
And bringing a piece of home with you doesn’t mean you love the home you chose any less.

Atlanta has given us a lot, and Decatur has embraced us with open arms.

So every day our doors are open, we have and will continue to give something back.

Keep your attitude in the car though.

We’re not dealing with that. 😂

Our brand personality is “Don’t play with us.”

Folks use the word “unprofessional” as a way to hide bad behavior, thinking a business shouldn’t respond or should respond nice and apologetic.

There are people working hard in our kitchen. Someone will take issue with this, but we shop in the same Kroger as y’all. We are your neighbors.

We see often customers scream how bad customer service is in Atlanta...

Have you ever considered that you may be a bad customer?

You can’t be impatient after you have agreed to wait.

I have sat in a Chick-fil-A drive-through for thirty minutes and have been good with the “my pleasure” at the end, just like you.

But you folks will walk into a mom-and-pop, agree to the wait, and leave us a 1⭐️ for waiting.

So yes, we clap back at the review...

We aren’t American Deli.

Our kitchen is small.

We don’t like ranch. You can’t put American cheese on lamb. You can’t huff and puff at the register and be a jerk to my wife, thinking my response is gonna be customer-friendly...

I won’t put my family through that so you can eat.

For two years, Laurence has been part of this thing with us.

He did right by us. We did right by him.

And before anybody starts making up a story 😂 — no, he isn’t being fired. He isn’t quitting mad. There is no drama.

The man has simply decided it’s time to follow his dream.

Laurence has ALWAYS wanted to work at the carnival.

So our guy is leaving Che Butter Jonez to begin his next chapter as the smoked turkey leg man at the carnival. 😂😂😂

We couldn’t even make this s**t up.

All jokes aside, it’s rare to have somebody work beside you for two years and be able to part ways with nothing but love and respect. Laurence showed up for us, worked hard, and became part of our story.

So while watching him mop this floor one last time feels a little strange, we’re happy he gets to go do something he’s always wanted to do.

Go sell the hell out them turkey legs, Laurence. ❤️
